Story review #26 Milkshakes, Marionettes, and Midnight —by EileenSaysHi
Characters:
Twilight Sparkle: I love her characterization in this story so much it is so incredibly in canon but it somehow makes her more human the way she tries to check on the Milkshakes or tries walking to the bathroom to avoid confrontation and blames everything on herself being weak is wonderfully written. I also love her awkward Adorakble dynamic with shiny.
Shining Armor: I enjoy how he is a good brother but still a guy who can mess up and that he acknowledges his role in the Friendship Games incident and tries to blame himself for everything despite his role being fairly small. It really humanizes him.
Premise: it’s a simple reconnecting/talking story between the Sparkle siblings. This is a very appreciated concept in my opinion something I didn’t know I was missing until I read it and realized hey I was missing this scene in the canon.
Grammar and punctuation: well done though that maybe thanks to the pre readers 👀 (no judgment though.)
Dialogue: It’s good which is really good because this story pretty much is one extended conversation/lot of dialogue.
Flaws: It’s high compliment when my biggest flaw is that it felt too short and needed a little more to really make the story even better.
Highlights: The way the Sparkle Siblings dynamic is written and played out as a familiar but different version of the equestrian versions is really great and I love how it’s similar but different.
But as always those are just my 2 cents and I recommend you check out the story yourself and form your own opinion.

Thanks for the thoughts! My only note here is that, in regards to Grammar and Punctuation, I do most of my own editing. My pre-readers are more focused on giving their thoughts on story and narrative.
Glad you enjoyed!
