Not That Anon

Yep, definitely not him.

E

There's a painting that was left behind by the late Granny Pie. Hidden away in the attic and carefully wrapped in a piece of cloth, it preserves the smile of the filly it depicts.

She doesn't feel too lonely, really.

Written for the Dialogue Only Contest.

Inspired by the classic adventure game Ib and its 2022 remake.

Now with a Russian translation by November Dragon. [GDocs] [tabun.everypony.ru]

What if the sisters all took turns being the painting?

Already commented elsewhere, but you gotta please the algorithm. For how short it is, it's a lovely little maybe-tragedy-maybe-not. Best of luck in the competition!

Thank you both; I'm glad that you liked it.
As for the tags, the story is so short that I thought it'd be better to let the readers form their own conclusions.

It'd be pretty difficult to arrange, considering the whole forgetting everything thing.

Well done, author. Very well-written and very... disturbing? I mean, a painting taking a pony hostage and can only be replaced by another who gets pulled into it is definitely a concept that'll get a reader to do a double-take. Good call on the tags as reader interpretation is way more valuable as it allows for the author to ascertain whether or not their message got across to the reader. Definitely going to come back to this one. Good luck in the contest!

“I don’t really know myself! Isn’t it exciting? She was painted by my grandma, and all we know is her name. She’s called Inkie Pie.”

Oh, dear. Not even Pinkie could manage to remember Inkie after pinkie-promising? That painting has some very odd magic to do such a thing, but at least Inkie was found again. Pinkie will visit her once again soon enough.

I generally consider myself more of a narration person than a dialogue person (as my next fic will definitely show), so this was a bit out of my comfort zone; I'm glad to hear that it turned out fine. Thanks!

Very interesting way of looking at Pinkie's backstory, especially how it relates to her family.
