I'd call myself a fanfic writer, if I wasn't too busy horsing around!

Season 5 Retrospective · 12:53am Jan 8th, 2016

Right, so it's been a month since I last checked in, and at that time I said I'd write a couple blog posts. Well, the holiday season came at me like a ton of bricks, what with its real-life obligations and so forth. I wish I had been able to put some time aside for writing, but I'm honestly pretty bad about that. But that's all over and I have more free time than usual. So, like I said last time, I had some thoughts about Season 5, specifically everything after "The Lost Treasure of

1255619 do you like a lot of world building in your adventure? Do you like seeing Rainbow dash getting a ton of character development? Do you like being in for the long haul? If so, I would suggest you read my absolute favorite story on this site, the Austraeoh series by Imploding Colon. Also known as Shortskirtsandexplosions. It's fucking fantastic.

Okay, let's see how I can break down my preferences... when it comes to genre, I'd probably say adventure is my favorite, but almost everything I like has some kind of comedic bent. Even darker stories have to have a sense of humor, albeit twisted. Romance is welcome if it's heartwarming and the majority of the focus is on building the relationship, and the more conflict and hurdles in the way, the better. I'm not much into sad/tragedy/humans, though.

Long stories aren't problem. When I get invested in a book, I can breeze through it pretty fast. So don't be afraid to link fics that are gargantuan!

Top ten favorite ponies: Pinkie Pie and nine of her Mirror Pond clones. Okay, that's a cop-out answer. :twilightsheepish: Well, I love the whole Mane 6, so don't worry about that. Interpretations of Derpy are usually hilarious, whether she's portrayed as wild and zany or a caring single mom. I've read some stuff with Octavia/Vinyl Scratch and I approve. As for OC ponies... whether I like them or not is dependent on how good the author is.

Or, of course, you could just throw links to whatever fanfics struck your fancy my way and we'll see what sticks! :pinkiehappy: Seriously, if it doesn't match anything I've written here, but it's just stunning and you absolutely love it, then I'd probably give it a shot.

1255551 oh gosh! So much talent was there. Pen Stroke and BronyWriter were the two biggies there. What genres, length, or ponies do you particularly like? I'll try to recommend some stories by those of us who attended.

1255327 That's pretty awesome. I have yet to go to a brony convention, but it's on my bucket list! Is there anypony in particular you got to meet that's worth checking out? I should be reading a lot more fanfiction.

1255159 sitting in a car for the LONG drive back from Everfree Northwest back to Southern California. Met a lot of cool writers and got a lot of cool ideas and I can't wait to get back to writing when I get back!
