These are some of the guidelines I use when reading/writing fanfiction:
1r) No Mature (I am a prude) I know not all "M" is that, but like to keep ponies pure
2r) No side fics/alternate endings. Way to many of them. I miight read FO:E:PH... not sure though. (rule is in regard to stories by others, and/or not considered "canon" by the original author)
3r) I read stories that look interesting to me, not because of who wrote them. (more common sense than a rule)

1w) I will NEVER write anything above a teen rating (I am a massive prude in regards to MLP; see rule 1r)
2w) Alcohol and drugs will NEVER appear or be referenced. Apple Cider is Apple Cider. There is no such thing as fermentation in the MLP universe.
3w) Pinkamena Diane Pie is Pinkie Pie's real name and as such she will occasionally call herself, or be called, by that name.
Soooo… I think I might need a prereader for Shimmer of the Sunset.
I think I've done okay for myself, but it couldn't hurt, right?
