The music danced between the pair, unicorn of snowy white, to changeling knight of ebon shell. Their voices rang in the clearing, a harmony of ages past, intertwined in memories long lost save to each others embrace in that singular moment. "I'm alone.. and sadness reigns in my heart." Such began, lifting from the intertwining warmth. "As long as we live, it wont go away. We are one, but torn apart."  A smile, weathered between both.

"Will you still wait for me?" Celestia bowed to ask.

"Will you still cry for me?" He bowed as he did in return.

"Come and take my hoof." They continued, in tandem, a moment of time, theirs for a spell.

All about, changelings continued the song, merging highs and lows as their words mingled into a finality for the moment. "Proudly it stands, until lives end, an eternal banner of love." Followed only by a chuckle between. "It's been a while my lady." then a smile. "As it has my knight. Though this lady is much more a nag in waiting by now."

Chittering, hissing and laughing, the knight could only retort. "Aged is like wine, better together, and enjoyed thusly. I have missed this."

"As have I, as have I." her words forlorn, but warm.

---to break---

*CLAANG* *SHING* Distant sounds, for a moment broke the fog of sleep for the high kings son. A hard earned memory burning away the early dawn's hold. Rolling hard out of his bed, paw grabbing his hand and a half blade. Eyes wide, lungs burning, nose assaulted by the smell of canines, the royal guards summoned by the sounds of movement above.

Down they went under thane's furious assault, no words shared, no proclamation of guilt. Just halberds seeking his lifeblood. Rushing outside, the massed guards heralding his and his peoples doom in the numbers. A howl, his own run in the dawn, summoning his people for their last. A bellow in the scant moments after to answer as he turned both blade and eyes to stare at his coming doom.

Winter stood there before him. The winter, bringer of dusk and dawn. The nights chosen, and suns champion. She loomed before him, clad amidst pelts of all races. Rats, bears, wolves, foxes. Every predator that dared challenge her. Her head shifted a moment, the chime of bells upon her deep violet rack sending a flurry jagged snow, not at him, but around, scything through the guards seeing him at hold. Her words, sung in the silence a proclamation as her hands gestured again, the wyld effortlessly coming to her call.

"Blood on the snow., Glass-like shine of crimson crystal. Wind howling low. Throats torn wide that sing no more." That grim smile. Turning away, unable to bear her countenance, he charged. His people needed him, no matter the cost. Blade met blade, armor and the shining dance of steel would echo. Only the sounds of reindeer, and of his desperate and rallying heroism.

"Eyes black with frost. All your precious, painful litter. Slain by paws rot-green and bitter." Her words, echoing as much in his mind as in the wolf city, rousing its denizens to their danger. Climbing slowly into the new day, her words, her army, would greet the survivors to a singular truth. "This is war."

Her gaze would linger among them, as her army moved amongst them, paralyzed by her gaze. "Learn hatred’s song. Teach the way of sword and reindeer." The antlers of each buck falling slowly off, leaving a twisting blade, axe or bow of bone behind. "Keep watches long. Breath the ice into your core."

"Blood heats the trail. Yours and theirs freeze side-by-side. You'll learn to kill with joy and pride, And this is war." Wisps, echoes, of the scene shown to all. The hold of the rot upon the guard, of its dark king. And of the underworms sway, tremors from below whispered from its messengers, the bane.

"So don’t talk of trust, from those who come from foreign greenness." The other clans would flash, of their leaders, and their champions in turn, each pausing briefly at the touch of the wyld upon them, trying to divine the source. "Don’t talk of love. Love’s for rotlings and for fools." Her gaze turning to the many outcasts given form, harried by the kings shadows.

"You've lived your lives in the Mountain’s shadow. Howled at night to the Palace song. Paid the price for the warriors fallen. The wylds path is not so long."

"Question me on what’s wrong or right." Thane's own voice ringing high to look winter in the eye. His blade held steadily in his hand. "I'm going back, for the old ones. For the High Ones take, any wolf who dares try to fight the rot." And once more, the fury raging in his voice, his own gaze would rise up to his people.

"So with sun on your steel, and steam that rends the dawn like thunder. Wolves we are raised! Reindeer bled and war cries soar. Our hearts beat like drums. Feline blood will spill by these hands. For they squat upon what’s ours! And this means war!" The howl of a pack united once more in the suns light.

"Seek the six young one. They will guide you." his sudden turn back to see winter, fading with the gently drifting snow. A knowing smile etched in her gaze.

it's quite alright, i've never claimed perfection or have attempted to please every reader who comes across my work. Some things i've done have worked for some, and have not for others, thus is the nature of being a writer we all have to accept. The fic is old, probably a lot id do different now, but the way i write dash probably wouldn't change much, i take a bit of a different approach to her and it has drawn criticism every once in a while.

Thanks for giving it a shot at least

>>2414743 You are very welcome, sorry on the nature of the comment for the story. I keep trying, but its been rough trying to figure why this isnt clicking. I'm not even one to mind romance. Its something in the way of it, and i'm too stubborn to just admit its not for me over this odd caveat when other things click so well.
