  • The Red Sign “I have seen the dark universe yawning Where the black planets roll without aim, Where they roll in their horror unheeded, Without knowledge, or lustre, or name.” - HP Lovecraft by Sunken EldritchSpires 5,808 words · 871 views · 35 likes · 0 dislikes

So, apparently I'm getting a review by a high standing reviewer and having one of my works (The Red Sign) places in a site-wide review thingie called a Round Robin or something.

I find this ironically hilarious.

Much like Lovecraft only had the potential to become even somewhat famous post-mortem, so I in my corpse of a account seem to be finding fame past the point of death. So it is that I am to be carried by the petitions of loyal fans functioning as coffin bearers to the festival, and paraded before the masses in all my necrotic splendor, how delightfully novel.

Despite this however, I won't be coming back. Even if it means that I get newfound prestige and attention I still won't come back. This account is in all intensive purposes a literary graveyard, defining a specific era in my life in which I found Lovecraftian horror to be the pinnacle of creative pleasures and my sole driving pursuit. My own lack of interest in MLP for years was probably a contributing factor also, as well as my lack of success.

However, that is no longer the case. Now I write my own work, defined by my own tastes and my own madness, not someone else's.

Hence whilst I wave the festering crypt of my account a fond but not lamented farewell, I gladly embark on my prize new pseudonymical steamer, the F.S. Voynich; bound for lands unknown and yet unpeopled and driven onwards by burning souls within the machine-flesh furnaces and the voices of the gnostic angels in my ears. My city awaits, the city which is my new creative vision and of a completely original nature, a steppe bound oceanic Constantinople-Khanbaliq-Angkor inspired by Coleridge and Lovecraft, Ambrose Bierce and Vandermeer, Ferdowsi and Marco Polo, Ashton-Smith and countless wondrous Gnostic scriptures, but distinctly "mine" in nature and no-one else's.

Above all I look forward to this, my interim from my time here and my time elsewhere has allowed me to free myself from the confines of this fandom and writing small horse creatures, I now write things with hands and human features comfortably. Above all, I am free and I take great pleasure in that fact, free from the bonds that chained me here, free to make my own way.

Some more blogs may follow this, maybe not. I'm not sure yet whether I want to mix my old allies with the new fiction that shall emerge from the forges of my craft, I may hand it out to individual members so they can enjoy it, but I won't be associating with this place once I place my roots elsewhere for obvious reasons.

So, perhaps now or later, I bid you a fond...
