Okay, that was that episode. First off: 10/10

Now to see how the predictions came true (or didn't):
- Alicorn!Twilight (no surprise there)
- No Twiluna :(
- No messing up Alicorns!

TheLastBrunnenG
Super-secret story arc spoiler: Celestia arranged the magical cutie-mark mishap in the first place!

Pretty much confirmed.

other stuff:
-Alicorns pretty much confirmed to be gods.
-Celestia confirmed to have been watching Twilight all the time.

I'd say you managed the balance quite well.
About the ponies - it was pretty much all of the mane 6 occasionally, most of the time they were just fine. (and I'm sorry, I was entirely sleep deprived and it was the middle of the night when I read it, so I can't really pinpoint exact lines anymore)

263955  Thank you - Trying to strike the appropriate balance between the optimism of the MLP-verse, vs. the nihilism of the HPL-verse, was an important consideration to me.

Which of the ponies seemed off-key, if you don't mind me asking?

mlp x lovecraft crossovers tend to be neat. So I fave'd it as a "marked for reading".
And well, I got to say it was a good read. A lil bit tell-y and sometimes the characters felt a bit off, but still decent and interesting.
... just it kinda didn't read like lovecraftian horror, the reader simply had WAY too much information (and too much fighting with too much hope).

Now. After I got that out I can say: after I stopped looking at it as horror and started reading it as adventure, it was one hell of a damn good story. I guess eldritch abominations make for good fighting ^^
