A friend of mine Drake, used to play soccer competitively with Alfred, James, and hockey too; although the hockey was a newly-gained pasttime. When he stopped playing sports and just laid in bed everyone of his friends were suprised and they asked him if he were alright. He was ok, but not motivated, he was actually kind of depressed and felt badly.

My attempt at subtlety:

He was okay, just not motivated, but he was actually kind of depressed and felt badly.
(The comment spellcheck is telling me 'ok' isn't a word. Ok.)
Halfway through making the top correction I knew I had to burn the whole thing to do it right, and made the next paragraph instead, before returning to the top paragraph to attempt to eke out a passable attempt.
Drake, a friend of mine, used to play soccer competitively with Alfred and James. Additionally, he played hockey, a newly-gained pastime, with them as well. When he stopped playing sports and instead just laid in bed, all of his friends were surprised, and asked him if he was alright. He was unmotivated and depressed.
I'd admonish the writer for his managing of lists and ask him just what he wanted to say in the last sentence, but I'm no editor and just did this out of curiosity. I know you've been offline for around half a year, but I did it anyway.
