This story is a sequel to Scattered Pages - Fire and Lightning

After the events of her own Scattered Pages adventure, Lightning Dust is left in Pinegrove with a lot on her mind, and without the release of flight to distract her from all her thoughts. Stuck in town with nothing to occupy her, and a long road to physical and mental recovery ahead, Lightning finds herself at a loss for what to do next. At the encouragement of her grandmother, and remembering Spitfire's request before she flew off, Dust decides to try and write the Captain a letter.

To her surprise, Spitfire writes her back. The two begin to kindle a friendship that will change both their personal lives for the better.

Friendship, and maybe eventually a little something more.

This story is a follow up to my Ciderfest story, 'Fire and Lightning'! It won't be 100% necessary to read to understand the story, but it will help provide a little context to everything.

Ever since the Book of All Stories was revealed, countless groups have raced to obtain the mythical magic of the pages. Spitfire, on orders from Princess Celestia and a tip from Discord, heads off into the White Tail Woods in search of one such page. After stopping at the village of Pinegrove along the woods' border, she's surprised to cross paths with none other than Lightning Dust. The two realize they are searching after the same prize, and a race to the finish ensues: one under orders to return the page, the other desperate to change her past.

My contribution to the Ponyville Ciderfest "Scattered Pages" book! For those who were unable to get the physical copy, we wanted to make sure we could share our love and passion with everyone. Everything we did is for the community, because of the community, and we hope you enjoy <3

For those of you who may not know, Ponyville Ciderfest 2023 was a weekend-long interactive game to decide the future of the convention itself. This was brought by writers, artists, cosplayers, editors, staff members, and countless others into a weekend worthy of the history books.

We wanted to make sure that these stories, all this hard work, reached as many members of the MLP community as possible. To that end, these are my own humble offerings from the convention's weekend. Included are the #CodeWords that were used in the Ciderfest app, as well as all the possible outcomes for each story.

Legends say that centuries ago, that the Alicorn Princesses used their power to separate the land of Equestria in an attempt to protect them from a dark and dangerous force. Each city became its own little world, and ponies have been cut off from each other ever since.

Close friends Octavia and Lyra had long wished to see what was out beyond the city limits, beyond the barrier that had kept them trapped their entire lives. One night that wish comes true in the worst of ways possible, as Canterlot is overrun by mysterious dark creatures. Suddenly wielding something called a "Keyblade', and rescued by a blunt and abrasive unicorn called Vinyl, the pair are thrust into a struggle far bigger than they had ever imagined. Even with the power of friendship, will their skills and determination be enough to protect the Realm of Light?

For Rainbow Dash, this was the end of the line; back against the wall, the stakes of all or nothing, fate of Equestria in the balance. A pony, desperate for the power over death itself, had lain the final pieces of his plan into place; the only thing between him and his triumph was a single blue pegasus, cast outside her time by a force she couldn't hope to comprehend. With one final night, she lays it all on the line and throws down all the chips: there are no second chances. For her, it was a story born over weeks of discovery, fear, and thrilling adventure.

For the rest of Equestria, it had all started over a decade ago...

After a long day with the Weather Ponies, Rainbow Dash flies home to hang with her favorite filly. At home, spending time with her, she reflects on a few of the biggest moments of their past year together.
