Her life was over. No one could ever truly forgive her for what she had done. It was something only a power-hungry megalomaniac could do, and now everyone could see her for what she really was. However, being rightfully ostracized from every social circle paled in comparison to what came next.

After an unnerving encounter at Canterlot General Hospital, strange, terrifying phenomena began to happen to her. Messages start being burned into the walls of her home. Wounds start appearing on her for no reason. She can hear cold, faint whispers at night. The smell of ashes perpetually permeates around herself. And yet somehow, it all stemmed from a question she never thought she had to ask.

Whatever happened to this world's Sunset Shimmer?

"Hmm...something drew you to my shop. Something powerful. Do you seek wealth? Glory? Perhaps a way to mend a broken heart? Whatever you desire, I can provide it. For the right price, of course."

Nestled away within the back alleys of West Canterlot lies a quaint, unassuming curio shop owned and run by the mysterious Dr. Odsin Ends. “Maybe...I could have saved him from himself. Saved him from that terrible power. And now look at you...”

It started as pyrokinesis. Then it was telekinesis. Then precognition. Until finally the power became too much to bear, and became the Alpha Wave. A disaster that would forever live in infamy in the minds and hearts of all ponies near and far. A calamity that changed the very face of Equestria, and left the Crystal Empire in ruins. “Yeah...doc, I don't know what I'm supposed to do. Is this happening because of some repressed feelings or whatever? I didn't really think that whole thing with dresses and being photographed was really important.”

For at least half a year to this day, Rainbow Dash had been experiencing blackouts in her memory. At first they only lasted thirty minutes to an hour, but now they were capable of lasting for days on end. And whenever she came back to her senses, she could never recall where she was, or what she was doing. Only the tiredness in her legs and her strained voice were a reminder that someone or something had been controlling her. And to think, it all started with such an idle thought. A pure, innocent thought that endlessly built up inside the recesses of her mind, until it took a life of it's own.

"Heh heh...what a strange fellow you are. I have only met you now, and yet you've already warmed my heart. I feel as though I could share anything with you. Who are you, and what is this place?"

Though most of the adults of Equestria remain oblivious, all the fillies and colts know and love Princess Luna. Whenever their hearts waver, or their lives has taken a turn for the worse, Luna has always been there to comfort them in their dreams. To give warm, heartfelt guidance in their time of need. However, the children often forget that she herself was once tormented by guilt and misery. They don't know the story of how it all started, that before she became the guardian of dreams, she herself was the one needing guidance. This is the tale of how she overcame her sadness all those years ago, the tale of her first dreamwalk and her encounter with a strange, smiling jester clad in purple...

"Wait, you mean to tell me that all that demoralizing, back-breaking labor is done by earth ponies?! Trixie may claim to do the impossible, but what you're saying actually IS impossible!"

Twilight had learned to accept Pinkie Pie for what she was a long time ago. Eccentric, aloof, and somehow never short of energy or surprises. She would have continued to not question anything about that whimsical pony, if it were not for her sister, Maud Pie. A pony just as capable of performing absurd feats, ones that defy all logic and reason. Ordinarily she would have pushed these feelings aside before it drove her crazy, but a chance encounter with a certain powder blue unicorn at the train station brought these questions back to the forefront of her mind. Perhaps she could gain some insight on what exactly a rock farmer was from somepony who actually had firsthoof experience...

Applejack shouldn't of touched it. Every warning sign inside of her head was blaring, every red flag was raised, and yet she let curiosity get the best of her. One second she's galloping her way back through the fire swamps, the next she's in a lush, green rainforest she's never seen or heard of before. The locals in the village over don't speak her language, and somehow everypony was capable of invoking magic in some way, even pegasi and earth ponies. What was this place, and more importantly, how hard was it going to be to get back to her family?

Fluttershy hasn't been acting like herself lately. She's been staying up late at night, her animal friends are being neglected, and she can't seem to stop spacing out. All Twilight and the rest want is for her to tell them if anything's wrong, but she never gives a straight answer. A festival is coming, one that could potentially raze all of Equestria to the ground. And pure, innocent Fluttershy is somehow the instigator.
