Goldfur

I'm a science-fiction and fantasy buff, creator of the Chakat Universe, and now dabbling in the MLP:FiM universe. I love a good story!

Disappointment · 4:11am Jan 5th, 2015

Today I received a notice from Equestria Daily rejecting my submission of "Conversations In A Canterlot Café". I was prepared for that possibility, but I'm still very disappointed because I really thought that it had a good chance. I've never been arrogant enough to think that I was a great writer, but after all these years (not just with ponies), it seems I'll just have to settle for "adequate".

Anticipating Season 5 · 8:05am Dec 17th, 2014

With a couple more months or so to go before we see Season 5, what are you hoping to see? I'd love to see a return of the changelings. However, I would also dread it because almost inevitably it will contradict my story fanon. Of course such is the nature of fanfiction, especially stories that try to stick as close as possible to show canon. I'm still proud of what I've written with regards to them though, so whatever comes, I think it will survive as a viable alternative universe.

Cloud-Walking and Construction · 2:17pm Dec 10th, 2014

The ability of pegasi to walk on and shape clouds is well known, but how do they do that? It is their magical talent to manipulate water that is at the heart of that ability. For example, when a pegasus touches a cloud, magic extends from the pegasus into the vapor, forming a network of bonds between every molecule of water within that pony's range. The strength of the bond is such that it feels much like walking on a firm trampoline, but the limitations of the effect means that any

Cafe Book · 8:31am Dec 8th, 2014

Conversations in a Canterlot Café is now available in paperback book form! If you have enjoyed my story on FiMFiction and would like to have a 6" x 9" paperback version of your own, it is now available direct from CreateSpace, and soon available from Amazon.com also. The good news is that it also contains ALL the illustrations throughout the story and in FULL COLOR. However, the bad news is that color printing costs a LOT more than black &

Fun Fanon Facts · 3:09pm Nov 1st, 2014

I've posted two Fun Fanon Facts blogs so far, and I was wondering if anyone would like me to expound on some interesting Equestrian "fact"? Bearing in mind that the answers would be fitting within the context of my stories, and not necessarily those of others, I invite suggestions.

Brief Thoughts on Holding with Hooves · 3:01pm Oct 18th, 2014

We've all seen ponies holding objects with their hooves, but how is this possible? Some postulate a thumb-like digit that is normally hidden within the hoof, but this does not fit well with their build. The answer that I believe best fits is of course magic, but exactly what type? Unicorns are frequently seen manipulating objects with telekinesis, but I don't see why this ability should be limited to them when all races have magical potential. The only difference is that pegasi and earth

Some brief thoughts on socks · 11:31am Oct 7th, 2014

I felt like saying something about ponies and socks, and why they seem to have a certain reputation for being sexy.

Please note new addition to "Conversations" story · 7:37am Jun 24th, 2014

If you have read chapter six of "Conversations in a Canterlot Café", you might want to revisit it at the point where Frothy goes back to Guide's office. I have added a lot more interaction there. It was pointed out to me that things happened too quickly without Frothy's motives being clear, so after a discussion with a friend, I have written more to address this. At the same time, I made a couple of trivial fixes, and added a final illustration for that scene.

Down-voting · 10:44am May 30th, 2014

It is impossible for any story to appeal to every reader simply because different readers like different things. The system of up-voting or down-voting a story can give a fairly reasonable idea of how good a story is though, and it's unreasonable to expect that a story will never get a down-vote, no matter how many people like it, so when one of my stories gets a down-vote, I can't be too fussed about it. However, what drives me nuts is wondering what it was that they did not like

Did your fanon get battered? · 6:58pm May 10th, 2014

One thing about writing fanfics - the closer that you try to follow canon, the more danger they are in of being contradicted by new canon. So how did your fanfics survive season four? Thankfully mine came through mostly unsinged, although I can't say the same for Golden Oaks Library. Twilight's new residence definitely was not anticipated in my stories. However, the rest survives for now until season five at least.
