How I Decide to Fav a Story

How I decide to fav a story.

First I read the story (obviously), while reading i pay attention to any major errors I find, spelling and grammar isn't a big deal to me as long as it isn't consistent and I can actually understand what has been written. I'm not a grammar nazi and I try not to intentionally insult the author of any story I read, if I decide to comment.

Next I pay attention to the story itself, does it catch my attention and keep me interested? That is the biggest thing I look for while reading.

Do the situations between characters seem like it can happen in real life? I'm also talking about those stories where you just finish the first chapter and BAM!!! instant romance between characters, I'm sorry but it doesn't happen like that in real life (that I'm aware of at least).

I pay attention to the flow of a story. Is it going too fast? Too slow? I'm not a big fan of stories that take ten chapters for something good to happen. Likewise I don't care for stories that seem to have time skips just for the heck of it.

Content, it is what the story contains and can either make or break a story for me. I'm not too picky about what kind of content is in a story, to be honest, for instance intimacy between characters, not a big deal if it actually seems like the feelings are there. Smut again not a big deal, but if it happens without rhyme or reason with nothing leading to it, or happens in every chapter just for kicks, yeah chances are the story's not going on my list.

OC's, I, believe it or not, like them in a story, it shows me that an author is actually trying to put effort into a story by add a self made character to the mix, or a character made by someone else. Sometimes properly adding an OC can make a story better (IMHO).

Character development, is probably one of my biggest attractions in a story. Does the character seem real to me? That is something I look for in any story. You don't know how many times I passed by a story with potential simply because the characters seemed poorly done. I always try to give a story a chance by reading the first few chapters. (at least 5)

Emotion, is definitely the biggest thing I look for in a story. Can a story evoke a certain emotion from me, can it make me happy, angry, sad. Can it make me laugh, cry, yell at the characters (it happens), can it make me want to strangle a certain bad guy (or on rare occasions a good guy). If it gets me to react in any of these ways, I'll usually add it to my list.

Imagery how I perceive a setting or character in my mind. I'm one of those people that can read something and visualize it in my imagination with very little description, and my writing style reflects this. But can I imagine something in my mind while reading. Sometimes while reading my imagination will run wild with imagery, if your story did that to me, I'll usually fav it.

These are the biggest things I look for that help me decide to fav a story. If I have faved a story of yours chances are that they've met or exceeded one or all of the criteria above.

A Tragedy · 3:28am May 29th, 2019

At 10:45 tonight on the 28th of may my Grandmother passed away, she fought for over 45 minutes but eventually, she lost the battle. I'm asking those of you who care, to pray for my family and I through this challenging time, it would mean the world to us.
