Despite having an unusual job, Moon Shadow is a fairly ordinary pony. Fond of shopping, cats and cake (a lot of cake) Moon Shadow sometimes resents her very lonely job as the mysterious Sandmare, bringer of dreams and dueller of nightmares. Come to think of it, there have been a lot of nightmares lately. What exactly is going on in the Dream world?

Tea Leaf is Moon Shadow's adoring and supportive (if somewhat long-suffering) adoptive mother. As one of the few ponies aware of Moon Shadow's true role, life can be a bit hard worrying about the dangers your child might face in a world of nightmares. Born to high society ponies, Tea Leaf has vowed to be a far better mother than her own was.

Midnight Tale is the fillyhood friend of Moon Shadow. She's a horror writer, just starting to make a name for herself. Midnight likes all things dark and scary, hay fries and comfy jumpers. She's a kind mare but prone to sarcasm and cynicism.

Northern Lights is a graceful and intelligent mare, the most down to Equestria of the group. Which is surprising, considering her head is usually staring up at the night sky. North works at the Canterlot Observatory as an astronomer and loves herbal tea and old books almost as much as she loves stars.

Spiced Pumpkin is a quirky mare, who loves to find new outfits for her fancy dress shop. Pumpkin may have some odd ideas sometimes but she's the most caring and maternal out of the group. She has two younger sisters she adores and when she's not at her own shop, she helps out at her family's cafe.

Ocean Soul is the owner and salespony at Sacred Page, a bookstore for old, rare, or out of print books. However, you need steady hooves and a brave soul to enter as Oceanlikes pizza, books and quiet...and not much else. She spends most of her days in solitude and following customers around the shop to make sure they aren't breathing on the books.

Orchid Belle is the head of housekeeping at Canterlot Castle. She loves beauty, tidiness and elegance. She does not like Moon Shadow traipsing mud, water or crumbs all over her nice clean castle, frequently causing them to come to blows. Her hair is always up in a perfect, immovable bun for some reason...?
