Events on a night that was otherwise like any other serve to shatter the peace and harmony that has existed for centuries in Equestria, but they are just a grim prologue to a worldwide threat: alien invasion. Outgunned, outmanoeuvred, seemingly outnumbered and seemingly outclassed, the peoples of the world struggle to survive against a force they know almost nothing about.

Where did they come from? What are they? What do they want? Can they be reasoned with? Can they be stopped? Unknown.

An alternate universe and thematic crossover story, drawing inspiration mainly from the X-Com series (1994 original series and 2012 reboot). Some other franchises that have had some influence upon this story to lesser degrees are listed in chapter one's authors notes.

Twilight Sparkle sends out a few letters and lessons on friendship to Princess Celestia, but soon enough finds that experiments done as a result of those lessons don't quite go according to plan. One backfired session of truth or dare leads to letters Twilight wishes she hadn't sent.

Except she did, at least in this story. Whoops! Maybe we can hope this never happens for real...
