This story is a sequel to Ordinary Nightmares

Derpy has had a lot of misadventures. Amid them all have been moments of happiness, sadness, hope, and despair. She has come face-to-face with mad scientist wizards, tea-loving pirates, changelings, ancient dragons, and even the breaking of reality itself. All along, there has been a pervasive sense in her mind that it was all beyond her; that simple little Derpy Hooves from Ponyville wasn't meant for moments like these. Somehow though, against all odds, she has succeeded time and again.
Now, that peculiar tendency brings Discord to ask her assistance in a unique crisis of his own making. Aeons ago, he made a machine with a unique ability: the power to invert the probability of the entire universe. It is a machine that makes the most unlikely the most likely, and the most probable all but impossible. If it becomes active, the consequences will be catastrophic in ways that defy imagination.
Only a pony with almost no chance of stopping such a contraption has any chance of stopping it at all. The best-laid plan will go awry, and the greatest hero will doubtlessly fail. Fortunately, there is one pony in Equestria who was never meant to be a hero.

The legend is known throughout Equestria, but there are few who believe. Those who claim to have seen the beast are dismissed as crackpots and madponies. Those who bring evidence before the world are dismissed as histrionic deceivers. There are those who have seen, however -- those who know -- and they will forever cry out their warning from the back seats of filthy, old train cars, even to those who dismiss them, who revile them, who ignore their warnings unto their own mortal peril.

"The sasquatch is real!" they will cry forevermore, even as nopony believes.

But from this day forward, Sassy Saddles will believe.

Written on a dare. I apologize for nothing.

Weary of the same celebration year after year, Celestia and Luna summon the Grinch and Ebenezer Scrooge to help them put a stop to Hearth's Warming. They regret this decision.

Written in the format of a couplet-based Christmas poem.
Takes place in the same Continuity as "Arthur Saxon Beats Up Tirek."

Early twentieth century strongman Arthur Saxon is summoned to Equestria to save the country from Tirek's return.

Exactly what it says on the tin. Not much else to be said.

This story is a sequel to Of Purple Dragons, Great and Small

Nightmares are ordinary; that is what Princess Luna insists. Everypony has them, and they all follow similar patterns. There's no reason that Derpy should get worked up over hers.

That's easy for the Princess to say when she's not the one surrounded by train wrecks, psychopaths, zombies, evil witches, cannibals, etc. Most pressing, of course, is the gray, clown-faced shadow from Derpy's own nightmares that keeps stalking her from within the mist.

What is it, and can Derpy ever confront it? If she ever wants her home back, she'll have to, but how can she defeat a thing born of her own heart?

Note to readers: This story has a serious continuity snarl, in that Moon Dancer appears as a pony with a personality nothing like herself as since depicted in the show. That's a hazard of writing fanfiction in an ongoing universe, and will require an MST3K mantra "hoof wave."

This story is a sequel to Change of Hearts

Derpy has always thought Spike the dragon was a good kid, if a little busy, but when she finds him sitting alone in Whitetail Wood looking glum, she finds out that, despite the fact that he doesn't mind "being a pony," so to speak, he still wonders what it would have been like to have known his real mother or father. Derpy does her best to cheer him up, but in the end, it becomes obvious that this particular question runs a little too deep for a wall-eyed delivery mare to answer -- for him or for Twilight Sparkle.

However, when chance lands an unusual old box in her hooves, marked "Return Service Requested," it sends her on a journey that results in her learning more about the matter than it was perhaps good for her to know -- or Spike or Twilight, for that matter.

Before it's over with, though, she encounters a looney band of traders, an addlepated old soldier, and yes, a big, purple dragon -- a very, very BIG, purple dragon.

That's when things get potentially lethal.

This story is a sequel to A Nice Cup of Tea

Why would a pony like Derpy Hooves -- good-natured, well meaning, and simple in her ways -- ever dislike such a wonderful season as Hearth's Warming? She has her reasons, and she makes it a point not to think about them. Still, the season gets her down, and the last thing she needs at this time of year is a special delivery for none other than Queen Chrysalis, herself. It might not be the greatest day of her life, but this delivery still might mean more to the mare they all know as "Derpy" than anypony could have imagined. It is a difficult thing to come face-to-face with a creature who truly understands -- and consumes -- hearts, especially at a time of year when one's heart is doing its best to stave off memories of a time not so very long ago.

This is NOT "A Christmas Carol" with Derpy Hooves as Ebenezer Scrooge. That would be inane (and maybe pretty awesome, but still inane.) Instead, it's an examination of love and the nature of the heart, and a look at one of the reasons why some of us just can't help feeling a little out of sorts at a time of year that is supposed to be marked by joy. There are a few laughs here and there, and there might -- just maybe -- be a happy ending. Still, don't come looking for a warm fuzzies dispenser. You won't get it.

This story is a sequel to The Greatest Day of Her Life

Derpy finds herself tasked with a strange mission: deliver an enchanted artifact to the leader of a band of pirates so that they can be tracked and brought to justice. What she doesn't see coming is the fact that Captain Magenta-with-a-Saffron-Stripe-Beard might not be quite the pony she had anticipated. It's amazing what you can learn about a pony over a cup of steaming tea and a little mortal peril.

Sweetie Belle notices that Rarity has been acting a bit strange lately. She seems distant, melancholy, and preoccupied. Sweetie Belle finally finds a convenient moment to ask one of Rarity's grown-up friends, Applejack, to see if she can find out what has her acting so bizarrely. Given no other outlet, Rarity reveals to Applejack that she has recently received some life-altering news. Applejack tries to help her friend work through the strange, forlorn sense of shame and confusion that haunts her life in the wake of a discovery over which she had no power, and which leaves her wondering who she really is, and what she really wanted, all along.

This is the last in a series of one-shots focusing on the versions of the Mane Six depicted in my novel, "The Sun Eater." You do not have to have read that work to understand this piece. It is a stand-alone work meant to stand on its own merit. If you do read -- or especially have already read -- that work, I deeply appreciate it, and thank you. If you want to read it, and have not, you will have to turn your "mature" filter off due to some graphic violence that I felt warranted the rating. For those unfamiliar with this universe, be forewarned, these are not Hasbro ponies. They drink, they smoke, they cuss, and they... Well, you get the idea. That said, this is NOT a clopfic. There is no explicit sexual material in this or any other of my works. If that's your thing, no judgment here, -- love and tolerate, after all -- but you'll have to look elsewhere to find it.
