Thousands of years after the seas rose up (literally) and destroyed civilization as we know it, a pair of evolved sea species, the Inklings and the Octarians, found themselves locked in conflict over a land mass that was rapidly shrinking.

Facing the prospect of a never-ending stalemate, the Inkling High Council authorized "Operation Expansion," a covert military program in which small teams of Inklings were deployed across the world to look for other lands that the Inklings could claim as their own.

One such team, led by their intrepid splatoon leader Danielle, struck gold in the form of a large island perfect for colonization. Upon investigation, however, the team discovered that the land was inhabited by a group of four-legged creatures with some crazy ideas about friendship...

Starlight Glimmer's defeat at the hooves of the Elements of Harmony did nothing to crush her dreams of a harmonious, mark-less society, but it taught her a lot about the power of the forces that opposed her. If she was going to have a chance of showing Equestria the true path to harmony, she had to find a way to amass enough power to go hoof-to-hoof with Princess Twilight and her cronies.

This search for power leads Starlight to the Staff of Comet Tail, a weapon wielded by one of the most powerful unicorns in Equestrian history. With such a weapon by her side, nopony could challenge her authority, and she could bring enlightenment and happiness to the ponies of Equestria without opposition.

Starlight immediately embarks on a quest to find Comet Tail's staff, but she fails to take into account who might find her along the way...

Over his career as an amateur magician, Zebediah the Zebra has traveled to a lot of places, seen a lot of sights, and interacted with a Rogues gallery of creatures. He's got a lot of crazy stories about his exploits, and he'll offer most of them without being asked.

His best story, however, is one he doesn't tell very often. To hear it, you have to catch him in the late evening hours, when he's sitting off by himself and sipping on a mug of cold apple cider. It involves his very first trip to Equestria, when he ran afoul of an overzealous bureaucrat and spent a harrowing three days in the Trottingham jail.

This is his story.

This is the story of Cassie, a young filly fighting for her life, and how she found a friend and kindred spirit in the Princess of the Night, forming a bond that would alter the night sky forever.
