The country is Equestria, and the year is 21xx. Reploids, robots that are designed to act just like ponies, are mainstream workers now. These technological advances are thanks to archaeologist Cain, who after unearthing the last creation of the late Canterlot Princess, Twilight Sparkle, decided to expand upon this idea and revolutionize the world.

But this isn't the story of X. This is the story of how Cain's first and greatest creation became the worlds biggest threat. This is the story of Lambda, a reploid made in the image of the late sun Princess, and how she soon became an enemy to all of Equestria.

I've never been good with ponies. Honestly, I would have been happy just being with my parents for the rest of my life. That all changed when they sent me to normal school. No, I didn't get better with ponies. But I did find someone who was just as bad as me. There was just one thing though. My soul was pure white, untouched by darkness and evil. Her soul was pure black, and only knew darkness and evil. She was a monster, and she wanted me to be hers and only hers.

And I loved every bit of it.

My name is Silver Spoon, and this is how I met a true monster, and how that monster became my best friend, and eventually more.

Twilight Sparkle is seen as a hero to all the ponies of Equestria. She not only stopped Nightmare Moon, but she also aided in sealing Discord and helped in preventing a changeling invasion. She however doesn't see herself as a hero, for all of her achievement she had to depend on the powers of others. Just once she would like to know that she can protect her friends herself, and not be the one that always needs saving.

During the first day of her one year leave to return to Canterlot, a strange meeting with Princess Luna opens the door to a great mystery, and a chance to gain the strength she desires. There's only one catch. This strength she can only attain with the help of Princess Luna, who also requires her help in protecting Equestria.

Twilight just has one question. Why does Luna keep calling her "Master"?

Equestria's Darkest Hour was only the beginning... The end of days are fast approaching...

Twilight faced her darkness and made peace with it. Now she can face who she is, and not a moment too soon. The greatest battle in Equestrian history is about to begin, and she'll need to understand just how deep the darkness in her heart goes in order to face the threats to come. However, in preparation for the worst event in Equestrian history, she'll have to protect a mare that may be the key to everyone's destruction. Even worse, she has to deal with an old enemy/former friend that's intent on saving the world her way, which means killing the life that Twilight wishes to protect. But can a demon truly do an angel's job, or is Twilight simply deluding herself?

"Can I atone for my sins...?"

For years Diamond Tiara has been contending with dark feelings, night terrors, and blackouts she can't explain. When Apple Bloom, the love of her life, was here, she could handle it. Now that Apple Bloom is gone though, Diamond Tiara's sanity is slipping, and she's becoming something horrible. Good news, she's beginning to understand what she is now. Bad news, she hates it, because the more she learns, the less likely it seems she can be saved.

"Wh-what am I?! Apple Bloom, help me!"

She is the Guardian of Equestria, sworn to defend the golden land of Terra from any and all threats. Vale's life was saved by a Unicorn who's heart was more pure than even her own, but now she has to carry on her life and continue her own mission. That should be simple, except for three things standing in her way. Midnight has once again chosen to stand against her, the lover of the one who saved her won't leave her alone, and strange foreign emotions plague her, hindering her mission. All she knows is that something in her heart is saying this isn't right.

"What's holding me back...?"

These three, and others surrounding them, will play an integral part in the events over the next month. As for what their places on the board are, unfortunately that's not entirely up to them.

A long time ago, there were four friends. Two were ponies from Equestria, but one was an angel from Elysium, and the other was a demon of Tartarus. None of that mattered to them though, as they grew up, they tried to ignore their destinies, hoping that their friendship would prevail over fate. Oh how wrong they were.

Rarity now finds herself alone, trapped inside Elysium, given more questions at every checkpoint and forced to see memories of a past she shouldn't have any connection to. Why is she here? What do the angels mean mean that "her life isn't hers"?

Four years after the fight against Discord, the Elements of Harmony have gone their separate ways. Though they remain friends, very few of them desire for the days when they protected Equestria from certain doom. The meteor shower threatens to change all of that, as monsters from unknown origins begin to attack Equestria. That's not all however.

During one of the monster attacks, Trixie Lulamoon, a star who fell from grace many years ago at the hooves of the elements of harmony, sustains a mortal wound and almost dies. A being of light comes to her aid and revives her, on the condition that she help the entity destroy these monsters.

Trixie, now forced to depend on the very mare who ruined her life, joins the new Canterlot defense force MARES (Monster Annihilation and Recovery Equestrian Squad) in order to combat the monsters, reunite the Elements of Harmony, and possibly redeem herself in the eyes of her peers, secretly defending the world in her own way as the glowing titan, Ultramare.
