This makes me think that Opaline absorbed magic just like Sci-Twi and became an Alicorn, making her think she was superior to everyone and want more magic. I think she was arrogant already, but by getting the corrupted Alicorn form she turned completely evil. When Twilight sealed the magic, Opaline stayed in the form of Alicorn and was still just as evil, because the magic she had was not purified.
