Truancy - Chapter 16.3 - Delayed · 12:29am November 22nd

I bit off a little more than I should try to chew in one go. Usually, I have an outline consisting of three items for a chapter update.

  1. Pony does X
  2. Pony 1 talks with Pony 2
  3. Silly does a silly thing, etc.

It starts out that simply, and then my notes get crazy; but that seems to turn out manageable results.

Truancy - Chapter Sixteen - Slight Delay · 8:11am November 1st

Ugh. Yesterday was another instance where emailing my notes to my computer made the apostrophes and quotation marks completely disappear. This delayed a lot of things, and I got sleepy editing. I should be able to finish up after work today -evening time. Here's hoping.

Silly will get a chance to look around and describe an area for the first time since he woke up on the beach. Here are some of the research materials I used to try and describe the picture of the scene I had in my mind.

Truancy - Chapter 15.2 - Extended Author's Notes · 8:00am October 11th

1. An anonymous letter may or may not be on its way to request that the Ministry of Transportation make better names for their trains and railways. Then again, I am providing the names translated into human language; so, it is possible that a need to do so is not recognized and justification may be lost in the translation. Train lines, such as the Friendship Express, the train that specifically buses only from Ponyville to Canterlot and back or wherever the Princess of Friendship

Truancy - Chapter Fifteen - Extended Author's Notes · 8:15am September 27th

Two weeks ago, my entire stack of notes for this chapter looked like this:

Ch. 15? 002 Summer. Colt wakes up - in apartment, before train, on train, or after trip? Skip trip?

Truancy - Chapter Fourteen - Extended Author's Notes · 7:40am September 20th

My Granny Smith, who has grown beyond the use of a verbal filter, might be the most appropriate justification for an M rating for this story. I could have sworn that I had another cutaway with some of her recollections of her stallion, but for the life of me I could not find it. Additionally, I don't think 'passionations' is a word, but she wouldn't have it when I asked.
"Are you giving me lip, sonny?"
"No, Granny, I was just asking where that word is in the Equish dictionary-"

I have about 4K words for about 2/3 of the next chapter. I hope to have it ready by the end of the day. Sorry about that. Work ran late yesterday. Can’t be helped.

As a teaser, I have a doodle for the new chapter!
Look at this pony. What could she possibly be doing? She’s totally up to something.

Truancy - Chapter 13 - Delayed · 8:36am August 23rd

This delay is totally my fault this time. I got distracted. I was reading some stories here on FiM Fiction this past week. One was Blurring Realities and another was So you are suddenly a soon-to-be husband to a Sun-goddess. And I got some inspiration for Detective Seeker and Princess Celestia. So, I spent a little more time on those jokes than the main story. As a

We had two 'cutaway gags' in this chapter. I am still working out the best way to transition from narrative to gag back to narrative more smoothly. I apologize if the hiccup in one's inner voice's narration is distracting. It will be a while before Zephyr Breeze makes it into the narrative, but I did post a draft of a scene with Zephyr in a Blog Post a while back. I think it will be pretty funny when

Hot off the presses! You guys get to see what a mostly unedited -and definitely overthought- chapter end product looks like fro me. Ultimately, I am happy with this chapter especially since there was maybe 100-words last Friday, and the pressure of these deadlines actually does help me push through things even though there were a lot of scenes that were cut mostly because I could not figure out a way to transition from one to another in a coherent way. Also, characters have changed -some more

Truancy - Chapter Eleven - Slight Delay · 11:17pm August 8th

In seven days, I managed to turn my 100-words of notes into 2500, but I still haven't fleshed out the final act of the chapter. It's getting late, and my brain is shutting down for the day. So, I don't think I'll be ready to post by the time I leave for work tomorrow morning as I prefer to do. However, I do think I can get this fired off before dinner tomorrow.

2400 words in a week is pretty good for me!
