Fed up with her sister's busy schedule, Sweetie Belle vents her frustrations about Rarity to their parents which prompts a story that leaves the young filly curious. Meanwhile, Rarity, deeply affected by her younger siblings words, goes into a deep reflection about how and why she came to be in Ponyville.

It's always been a dream of Rarity's to get invited to the Regal Customs Ball, now that the time has come her only available escort is Applejack.
