Fat lot of good that did me. I'm now stuck at the lower end of the restaurants, a re-vamped donut shop trying to act like the big leagues. The place is a dump as far as I'm concerned, but I guess I need the experience if I'm ever gonna get the attention or save enough money to make it big myself or open my own restaurant sometime.

Thunderlane is a stallion's stallion, and he knows it. Unfortunately, this has created a lot of unstable relationships with the ponies he knows, and he keeps falling in and out of relationships because no pony he knows can meet his standards. He's about to break up with his current marefriend for reasons he's not even sure of, and is hesistant about getting into a relationship with another.

But Thunderlane's life is about to take an unusual twist. A signing event in Ponyville's new library leads him to meet with one of his favorite authors. But life is not so clearly marked out like the pages in Thunderlane's favorite books, and he's about to find out this strange stallion has a few tricks up his sleeves, tricks that will shake Thunderlane's foundations and quite possibly reveal a thing or two about himself he wasn't previously aware of.

That is, if Thunderlane can realize what he's doing to him.

The former equalized ponies struggle to reconstruct their town after Starlight Glimmer's defeat, and Double Diamond struggles to reconstruct his own identity after being freed from Starlight's equalization brainwashing.

An old family member drops by to pay the Apples a visit. But why now after so long?

The Crystal Empire is saved. The Crystal Heart is back in it's rightful place. Princess Cadence has been restored to the throne, and the Crystal Ponies have regained their peaceful lifestyle.

So how and why did former-king Sombra survive the blast that should have killed him?

A distress call has been sent from Appleoosa to Canterlot: the magic that knocked the Changelings away has apparently sent them a little too close for comfort to the desert town. They're out of sorts and not all together, but the swarm coming back together is inevitable and Queen Chrysalis is apparently alive and biding time to seek revenge. Their call is not to help destroy the remnants but to help prepare the town for invasion, and it's needed desperately.

Despite being newly married and fresh off a Changeling invasion himself, Captain Shining Armor is enlisted to answer the call. Taking a group of his most trusted soldiers, he makes his way to Appleoosa to help engage the remaining Changeling forces. The town is ill-prepared for an invasion and Shining Armor begins his preparations; among them is convincing the local member of the Apple family - Braeburn - to stand up and fight. But there's something strange about this particular job, something that intrigues Shining Armor more than he wants to admit, and such thoughts could be unhealthy for him.

Douglas came through the mirror portal to Equestria from a war-torn world, beaten and left for dead. Taking sympathy on him, Celestia allows him to live and work in Equestria. Douglas settles into his new life easily, but he receives a chilly reception both from his coworkers and the residents of Canterlot, despite his favor with the alicorn sisters.

In a bid to increase funding for the Crystal Empire, Celestia and Luna offer Douglas a transfer opportunity to the crystal city. Eager to escape, Douglas accepts the offer and comes into the care of Prince D'Amore Temporus and his Captain of the Guard, Gleaming Shield. But something appears off about the prince of the Crystal Empire, especially when he starts taking an interest in Douglas.

Braeburn is a normally prosperous and well-to-do stallion. But, like most farmers at the end of the Appleoosa harvest season, he faces two long months of boredom waiting for the winter rains to come through before next planting season. Normally, that time is spent at the local Salt Lick Saloon taking his time and having a salt lick, but Braeburn soon realizes he faces an endless cycle of monotony.

That is, until a rugged stallion by the name of Dr. Caballeron comes into Appleoosa looking for the final member of a party to venture out into the deserts outside of Dodge Junction. Calling himself an archaeologist, Dr. Caballeron appears to be searching for something in the middle of Red River Canyon, a place where a strange magical force is said to dwell according to native legends. Despite the unusual nature of the request and the somewhat unsavory look of the Doctor, Braeburn accepts the lure of anything to stave off the boredom.

Unfortunately, if the legends are true, Braeburn may be getting in a little over his head. And that's not including who he's going on the trip with.
