For a long time, Time Turner has been baffled by his fellow citizens of Ponyville who kept insisting on calling him Doctor Whooves, no matter how many times he's corrected them. Those instances finally died down after he got together with Derpy, but now he's finally about to meet the very pony responsible for this confusion.

However, he may just end up even more confused than ever.

King Sombra. The lost son of Queen Rabia. The former tyrant of the Crystal Empire. He thought he was the last of his kind. He's been defeated twice, first banished for a thousand years, then shattered by the magic of the Crystal Heart, but he was still not down. He was brought back to life due to previous careful planning and through that process has learned that there is hope for his race.

After laying low to recover his former strength, King Sombra has decided that he will rebuild the empire his mother and late sister ruled. But to do that, he needs ponies, certain ponies. Ponies that can trace their ancestry back to his race.

He needs Private Iceland and Barricade and preferably their family too.

Private Iceland is going back to work after a long stay in the Crystal Empire hospital. He's more than eager to, wanting to forget his dreadful experience that landed him there.

However, it turns out that his enemy had put a hidden spell on him. The spell backfires and brings Private right to King Sombra's hiding place.

King Sombra is just as surprised as Private, but not as startled.

King Sombra was defeated and the Crystal Empire was saved, but not long after that, Twilight and her friends learn of a pony intent on resurrecting the fallen king. Princess Celestia and the crystal ponies identify him as Temor, the adopted son of King Sombra.

No one knows where Sombra found him or why he chose to raise him and adopt him as his heir. Now it is a race against the clock to stop Temor from completing his goal and in the meantime, the former prince reminisces on how he became who he is today.

This story is part of The Equestria Tales series, although set in an alternate universe. It is a what-if story based on a line from Possession in the Crystal Empire.

The story occurs in early season 3 and diverts a bit from season 3 and onward.

Private Iceland is recovering from his ordeal at the hooves of King Sombra, who possessed him and caused his current injuries. He still suffers nightmares and has trouble sleeping. He also longs for his favorite breakfast, pancakes. The dull tasting hospital food is not helping with that at all.

However, is he safe? Is he truly free from the pony that tormented him and his brother? He is in the middle of the Crystal Empire, with an active Crystal Heart, plenty of guards and an alicorn princess nearby. Is that enough to stop a very unscheduled, unexpected, unwanted visit? Especially if it's off hours?

A certain evil overlord doesn't think so.

The Cutie Mark Crusaders are heading to Manehattan to meet up with Babs Seed. This is their first visit to city since acquiring their cutie marks and they couldn't be more excited to meet their friend.

What they do not know however, is that trouble is brewing as an old employer of the local gang leader has arrived in the city. Some old past mistakes are coming back to haunt him and somehow the Crusaders get caught in the mess.

And all of this is watched by something sinister with its own agenda.

It's perhaps not the best life a pony could live, but Rain Storm manages all right for himself and currently the gang is the closest thing to family he has after his parents died and he and Thunder Cloud lost their jobs. Join him if you will as he narrates a day in his life.

He refuses to reveal his identity and doesn't say why he climbed the small mountain he was found on top of, but deep in his mind the pony has a very unwanted guest who has his own designs for both the Crystal Empire and the Royal Couple.

The prince and the princess know they must stop their enemy, but it might come at a terrible cost. The possessed pony's life.
