Whichever meaning, home would bring you relief, a way to forget the harsh reality for even a short moment. Like any pony, Emerald Melody, a maestro of the Canterlot Symphony Orchestra, understood this simple routine. She returns home after a long day of work, looking forward to turning in for the night and to meet her special somepony.

This story is a sequel to Guardian

Be it the snow-covered houses, twinkling lights, sparkling stars, or the warmth of the fireplace, Hearth's Warming was here once again! A time for joyous celebration, time for family, and, of course, love!

A group friends – who were family, really – come together on Hearth's Warming Eve, to celebrate the holiday. With presents at the ready, food, drinks, and, most importantly, each other, the festivities proved to be as bright as the previous years'.

Nightmare Night was something ponies looked forward to each year. Like Hearth's Warming, they would spend time on making costumes, decorations, and planning different events.

In Ponyville, Frost Breeze and Star Dust were doing just that.

Nothing more could happen, right?

The Royal Guard, defenders of Equestria with three different factions. The Celstial Guard, the Lunar Guard... and the Specialists.

One for day, one for night, and one for the most dangerous tasks.

Specialists serve directly under the princesses, their rank equal to the captain.

One team rose above the rest in terms of strength, devotion, and sense of justice. They call themselves the Guardians.

Six ponies strong enough to rival alicorns make up this team. None of their identities were made known to the public, it is said that only the princesses and Captain Shining Armor know their names.

Golden Dusk a member of the Guardian , had gone missing during a mission for about two months. Then suddenly, he returned in mostly good condition .

He had thought that the last mission would be the last one for a while. However, another threat brews within the shadows of the majestic city of Canterlot.

Not to mention, Scarlet Gem, his teammate, has been acting slightly different lately.

Unbeknownst to him, so was he.
