An Escalating Problem · 12:27pm 1 hour ago

Things have gotten complicated now.

I was pulled into a meeting with HR at my work regarding what happened a week ago. In this meeting so many things were said and implied that I now have to deal with their bullshit.

Things that were said in that meeting.

  • "Wow, you look so young, I'm 35." (This is what started the meeting. A nice compliment if it did not precede a bunch of condescending shit)

I Wa(o)nder · 5:07am February 15th

It's so hard to write when my time is eaten up by work; sometimes a little gets done, but far more often I am so bagged when I get home that even self care can feel like a chore. Service work is the worst, it is both physically taxing and emotional exhausting, it leaves one drained of inspiration.

Little blogs help me feel as if I am not standing still, there is progress even if I am having a hard time acknowledging it.

Self and Character Growth · 1:19am January 8th

A story requires more than simply stuff happening to a character, there needs to be growth. The hardest stories to write, are the one's in which a character's growth is not the result of outside events imposed upon them, rather their growth is internal, and the character must overcome their own self. The philosopher Paul Tillich called it "The Courage to Be," through help and self discovery the character faces their own self imposed tyranny to become the self they wish to be.

Story idea · 12:23am Dec 14th, 2018

I had a new story idea. This idea revolves around and kind of mimics a book called Dhalgren by Samuel R. Delany. If you haven't read the book I would recommend it, but only if you are really into surreal science fiction type material. Here is the Wiki of the book.

Learning about story creation · 4:42pm Nov 29th, 2018

So I have been writing a lot, but have discovered something. Much like Hubble's law my written universe keeps expanding, and everything is moving away from everything else. I see the pitfall, a continuously growing story with no interacting parts. I have many scenes I was inspired to write, they are all part of the same story, but they are on different points within a growing timeline that just keeps getting bigger.

Story Writing Day · 11:11pm Nov 19th, 2018

So I started a story a couple of days ago it is about a young woman who is dropped into Equestria as a young filly. The difficult part is I do not write stories in a linear fashion, for me they come together in pieces, a bit like a puzzle that I have to put into proper order. So the serialization that these story publications use do not work very well for me. What I might have to do is finish the story and then publish it.

As I begin · 12:51pm Nov 16th, 2018

I'm not a very outgoing person, nor am I a very courageous one. It has taken me a while to come to terms with the gentle and introverted person I am. I happened to stumble across the show a year or two ago, it resonated with me in ways no show has before. It taught me friendship, when I was beginning to come to terms with my difficult history. Questions like what a friend means, how they should treat each other, all things I should have learned in the past but had no framework for.
