In recent years, I have observed a disturbing trend among the ponies I come across in my line of work: a shocking ignorance of the basic history of Ganzir. I would not find this so distressing were it were not for the unfailing accuracy they bring to bear concerning the story of Griffonstone. I do not believe it would be an exaggeration to say that King Grover is a more well known figure in our capital than Princess Dawn!

The aim of this text is to rectify this imbalance by providing an accessible resource to aid in the education of our ponies. This volume covers the whole of Ganzir's journey from prehistory to the present day. It is my goal to ensure that every pony who reads this history takes in its lessons, and never allows our story to be lost.

I hope you find it compelling. -Auriga

Long ago, King Grover, using the power of the Idol of Boreas, built the great Kingdom of Griffonstone and conquered Griffonia. In time, his reach spread beyond the continent to an island of ponies not far off the Griffonian coast. The local ponies called this island “Ganzir,” and it soon became a province of Griffonstone. For centuries the kingdom has flourished, and nopony can remember a time when Ganzir was not under the protection of Griffonstone.

But things have become dire in Ganzir. A blight sweeps across the countryside, destroying crops and threatening famine. Peasants are restless, their vocal leaders demanding an end to the feudal order. In the capital city of Irkalla, many ponies chafe at rule from Griffonstone. Auriga is one such pony, but there seems to be no hope. Who could possibly hope to stand against the might of Griffonstone?
