Twilight Sparkle has always loved Celestia—as a friend, and a mentor, and something else as well. And she finally, finally found the courage to admit those feelings.

Celestia turned her down as gently as she could. That's what she thought, anyway.

But the night is still young—and it's a night for being wrong.

[Rated T for suggestive sexual content. This story takes place between the Season 2 and 3 finales. Additionally, I wasn't able to find the artist who did the cover art, if anyone knows please drop me a line so I can credit them.]

Twilight Sparkle loves being a librarian. She gets to spend all day surrounded by her favorite things in the world—books—and best of all, nopony ruins it by trying to talk to her (or at least if they do, they have to be quiet about it).

But when the new head of the Equestrian Library Association gives her an ultimatum, Twilight's future as Ponyville's librarian will hinge on her ability to face the most horrifying creatures she's ever had to deal with:

No, not her new boss (who's clearly up to no good). Not the cult of the Dark God Cacophonon. Not even the strange book that won't. Stop. Staring. Worse than all that.

Library Patrons.

It's Ponyville's 100th birthday, and Mayor Mare has a plan. Like all great plans, it is simple:

1) Give the greatest speech she's ever written.
2) Impress everypony in the audience (including Princess Celestia).
3) Get out of this hick town with its hick politics, and take her rightful place among the Canterlot Council.

She's even got Granny Smith, Ponyville's oldest and most scatterbrained living resident to give the opening remarks. After an introduction like that, there's no way she could look anything but spectacular. Right?

The year is Friendship Century 0079. Ponykind has expanded into outer space. Friendzone 3, the colonies farthest from Equestria, rebel against the iron-hooved rule of the Equestrian Federation. Declaring themselves the Principality of Neighon, they begin an all-out war against the Federation, decimating the Equestrian army with a powerful new weapon: giant robots known as Mobile Steeds.

In a single bloody month, both sides lose over half their respective populations. Now, as Neighon advances into Equestrian territory, the Federation wobbles on its last legs. Their only hope for survival: the flagship White Stable, and its cargo, a prototype Mobile Steed of unsurpassed power. Its name is Gundam, and it just might be the key to victory.

If they could only get its pilot to stop crying.

Love doesn't always last forever. And sometimes it can crumble so spectacularly that you never want to see or speak to the other person again.

Celestia was perfectly content with that. But when Twilight Sparkle suddenly appears at the palace in Canterlot, after a century of silence, she has no choice but to talk to her.

Politely, of course. Always politely.

Sheriff B. T. Book is a straight-laced, by-the-book kind of cop--for years he's protected Ponyville from litter, noise violations, and several of Pinkie's more insane theme parties. All he really wants is a little appreciation for his hard work, and maybe to save the town from certain doom, just once.

His grandfather, the famous sheriff Hard Country, is dead. But he got better. And now he's raring to get back to kicking criminals in the face and running away from things just before they explode.

Only problem is, there aren't any criminals or explosions in today's Ponyville. Or so one would think. But Hard isn't the only ghost who's up and walking, and when his old nemesis comes back to settle an extra-old score, grandfather and grandson will have to put aside their differences and work together, or else Ponyville might just be destroyed.

Well, to be honest, Ponyville is probably going to be destroyed anyway. Things do tend to explode when Hard's around. But when the good guys are blowing up your town, there's just one thing you have to remember:

It's exploding with love.

Written for the League of Equestrian Gentlecolts Ghost OC Prompt thing. Also in loving memory of the short-lived 2010 buddy cop show "The Good Guys."

It's an offhand remark, “You're only young once,” but for Twilight Sparkle it strikes an unsettling chord. After all, everypony has to grow up; and when ponies grow up, they move away; and when they move away, they fall out of touch...

Terrified that her friends are going to drop out of her life, Twilight resolves to spend every waking moment with them. She also gives up sleeping.

This can only end well.

Dedicated to absent friends, to all our times together, and to reunions yet to come. Don't ever stop being awesome.
