Tale Swapper

“Too much sanity may be madness. And maddest of all, to see life as it is and not as it should be.” -Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra, Don Quixote

This story is a sequel to Myriad Thoughts

Sometimes, events don't go the way they were supposed to. Sometimes, it's hard to incorporate small pieces into a larger whole. Sunset Shimmer's arrival on Terra has resulted in a lot of changes to the world, and there are a lot of small stories which rise from her myriad deeds and started fires.

These short stories are snippets of life in the Myriadverse. Some are large tales that will take multiple chapters to script out, others are just brief glimpses into the past or motivations for various characters. A few explain the lives of people who are touched- directly or indirectly- by Equestria.

If you haven't caught up on the two main stories in this 'verse, (Myriad Thoughts and/or Sparks Catch) you'll want to look at the first 3 letters to determine where a story fits. The key is below.

SE- Supporting evidence, files, experiments, and notes. Have no chronological place, with perhaps minor spoilers. Usually just fluff.
BEQ- Set before the first Equestria Girls movie. These stories will mostly deal with Sunset's past, but some will deal with other characters or the history of the characters seen in this 'verse.
BMT- Set before Myriad Thoughts, but after the first Equestria Girls Movie.
AMT- Set after Myriad Thoughts, but before Sparks Catch. Note that these stories can also occur in the one month gap between the last of the five days of Anon-A-Miss and the sleepover at New Years.
ASC- Set after Sparks Catch, but before the Friendship Games.

On a cold winter evening, I met her, her cheeks chapped from tears frozen from the cold.

We took up talking for a while, and as I listened, I could tell she was out of aces, bound for nowhere.

She had the look of someone running away, with nowhere to go. Fleeing, not advancing.

I had a bit of advice. I've got no clue whether she took it.

I just hope she remembers the gambler whenever she gets to a place she could call home.

This story is a sequel to Myriad Thoughts

Sunset Shimmer thought she was going to lose everything. Instead, she gained far more than she lost. With her new family, deeper bonds with her friends, and a firm understanding of the Magic of Friendship, Sunset is ready to face the new year.

However, she really didn't expect some of the problems which would arise from having a new home and better friendships. Sure, the curfew is bothersome, her new little sister tried to frame her for a crime she didn't commit, and her new Grandma wants her to learn to shoot a rifle, but these issues are manageable.

The fact that her new life seems to have reignited her magic- which she didn't even think was possible- is more worrisome. The fact that the new magic has attracted the attention of the smartest girl at Crystal Prep further complicates matters. However, the real issue is that the new magic seems to want to be used- and is continuing to spread.

Sunset's starting to wonder if she'll ever get a break...

Sunset Shimmer has lost everything. All her so-called friends have turned their backs on her thanks to the machinations of Anon-A-Miss, and she's abandoned and alone. About to step out into a cold winter afternoon, she hears a voice she didn't expect calling her back...

Written because of my own temper and sense of righteousness has fouled my thoughts before. Written because we can see the truth of things even through our anger. And written because I'd like to believe that individuals can think beyond the baying of the mob.

Rated T for swearing, discussions of violence, and some other PG-13 scenes.

9/18/17- Featured. For a minute. A little stunned.
9/26/17- Featured. Again. Let's see if it will last...
10/2/17- Featured for a few hours this time. Thank you all!

Havelock Vetinari- master chessmaster, patrician and lord of Ankh-Morpork, (former) assassin and possibly the most dangerous man on the disc.

He's been a lot of things in his life, and as he juggles the political coalitions, unstable individuals, race relations, and magical mishaps of the city, he's never really missed the social life he discarded for this job.

The arrival of a small, white filly in his throne room will give him a chance to try adding "father" to his list of titles.

Inspired heavily by Tatsurou's My Little PWNY stories, and by the shameful lack of Discworld crossovers on this site.

First story- updates will be slow, and commentary is greatly appreciated. I may solicit direction for how the story should go down the line, if I get that far. Will try to update one a week. Will try to update regularly. On hiatus until further notice. Many apologies.
