He proceeds to attack this case with all of his skill and wit. Which is to say, badly.

This story is a sequel to Lightning to the nations

After a tiring day tying up loose ends as ruler of a planet and princess to a people, Twilight returns to find Jack having started an inadvisable hobby. The reasoning beyond this hobby becomes clear to her fairly quickly.

Local human goes on holiday with magical horse princess significant other. Questionable jokes are made. They get wet.

It's cold. Keeping inside and trying not to think about this is Phil, a human.

Outside, trying to get rid of her rubbish is Plum, a pony. But she's having issues.

Phil helps Plum, and in helping her encounters further issues.

Then there's soup. Or not.

Peter and Sponge Pudding are friends. They've been friends for basically their whole lives. Buds. Pals. Inseparable. Gone from simply hanging around one another as kids to now living together as young persons.

Their individual weekends plans have been scuppered, however, and now they have to make the most of things.

With predictable results.

Local human Jamie is having trouble sleeping at the house of some friends of his. His friends are ponies.

In his feeble attempts to get to sleep he meets the other member of the household that he had never actually met before.

The child awakes, and thus so do the parents.

No-one has a very good time.

This story is a sequel to Like Clockwork

It has been approximately three years since Cozy Glow passed into the tender loving care of Paul the human and she has, in spite of these dire circumstances, done quite well for herself. Indeed, it may be fair to say she has thrived, becoming if not a wholly normal teenager then at least a more well-rounded and settled one. She is happy.

By contrast Paul has, if anything, regressed. The man who felt his life had not amounted to much and what little remained would amount to even less has instead thrown himself - in his own way - wholeheartedly into trying to set up Cozy for her own life, with very little thought given to what is left of his own. While she moves forward, he has slipped backwards, and the gulf widens or so Cozy fears.

The situation is untenable, both sides have the best of intentions, and mistakes are made.

Pretty hilariously stupid mistakes.

(Also the only story of mine ever to have been pre-read (in places) beforehand by someone else. How exotic!)

The Duke thought that having Prince DeSoutter packed off as envoy to Equestria would keep the aggravating boy safely out of the way and while it generally does, he does also come back every so often, often with things that the Duke really doesn't want to hear.
