The overly verbose, overblown way I do a lot of my nonsense is such that the stories should be imagined being spoken aloud by a drunk standing on a chair and addressing a room.

Which is close to what I used to do, years ago, come to think of it...

Though I never stood on a chair. I don't need to!

I do have these moments when I'm writing something - usually something horse related, as it doesn't strike me otherwise - when I'll put in a particular turn of phrase or expression or reference and pause and think to myself:

"God, I'm just so fucking English."

Some people seem to make a note of if or when they hit the top of the box, but I always forget...

Which is very me, on reflection.
