((This is an attempt at something new so bear with me))

It has been twenty years since the founding of the Kingdom of Etheria. In that time many things have changed but some stayed the same. For a young mare, Etheria was just another ally, to another it was a place that held something of great value. But to most it was a kingdom of darkness and shadows and many would wish it gone from the world.

Celestia has lived with the guilt of the death of one of her closest friends. She has held onto this guilt through the many years of her long life, even after banishing her sister. But one night everything comes to a head and in her grief, The sun will shed tears for the one she lost.

Lunar is away on royal business and Celestia is stuck in the castle within her chambers. All seems well till Lunar receives a letter from Luna stating to return to Canterlot with all do haste. It would seem that something is happening in Canterlot that would require the stallion to be there immediately.

More then a thousand years ago a brave stallion left the land of Equestria for reasons no pony knew of. Now after a long time away he has come back to the land he once called home. But to what end? For a dark and sinister force is at work to take over not only Equestria but the world itself.
