Infernus Noctis

Don't settle with flying low to the ground. Rise till the sun threatens to burn your wings and the air becomes thin, but never stop there. Soar till you reach new heights and became one with the stars

You’re welcome. Your stories about Dale drew my eye and I eagerly wait for more.

Thank you!

You’re commitment to detail is appreciated even if I don’t really understand half the things that are discussed.

I do have associated blog posts with each chapter which might help--I can delve into some of the minutia which doesn’t make sense to put in the chapter itself.

Your story stands out to me because Dale doesn’t really know how to act as a diplomat since he has no training. In other human stories I have read the human is usually, though not always, an astronaut and/or had some thing of advanced job that would help them during and after first contact. Dale, naturally, lacks that so his more ‘down to earth’ presence is interesting.

That was one thing I wanted from the very beginning . . . at the time I’d started writing, there were a number of stories where it was either a professional (such as an astronaut) or a professional showed up fairly quick, but what if it was just Joe Average who has no real idea what he got himself into, and he’s doing his best? Nobody planned for it, it just happened and everypony and everyone has to figure it out as they go.

I am looking forward to what will happen when Dale has to meet with actual US ambassadors. Likewise, it would be interesting to see how Dale will handle discussing technology he may not wish to tell the ponies about; mainly weapons. Anyway, I am looking forward to more.

That is always a question that I’m sure even real professionals have to deal with. There’s obviously stuff that they know that maybe you don’t know that they know, and if you lie about it, you can’t be trusted; at the same time, you don’t just want to give away stuff for nothing, so you have to walk a fine line.
