I'm writing a short story collection that bridges MLP:FiM and DnD lore. It's surprisingly simple in concept, but broad in scope, because it's a total rewrite of Swordpony. The most important changes:Spike's egg is the focus, and Grogar is the villain, not some unnamed deer god of death. Some years ago, I wrote a fight scene to explore what happens when ponies cross swords. It turned into a story that was equal parts "Kingkiller Chronicle," and "The Thirteenth Warrior" fanfiction. At the time, Swordpony was considered to be Skyrim fanfiction, since that game had just come out. It didn't help that it arrived on Equestria Daily on the same day as EQD's first Skyrim/Pony banner art.

Haven't watched a single bit of MLP since Jimmy died. MLP was the last truly, unabashedly positive thing that we shared. He loved Spike and Pinkie Pie, and often joked that Pinkie was just leasing the Fourth Wall from Spike.

(well, I say "joking," but we all know it's true)

But I watched the final song, so... In for a penny, in for a pound. Time to rewatch the whole thing, and finally watch those seasons I've been avoiding.
