Starswirl's new spell should be fairly straightforward. Combine their powers, blast the Pony of Shadows, and send him into limbo, with the Pillars unscratched and free to return to their lives, their quest finally complete.

He claims it's ready, simple, and foolproof. Though a private conversation with Magnus has told him otherwise. Prototype spells are never that simple... any kind of action is a risk.

But it will be fine. Surely.

Nevertheless, before the climactic confrontation, Flash Magnus needs to make one more visit, to the pony who matters most to him...

After a long and perilous journey, as well as an intense final confrontation, Twilight has managed to secure the staff... and finds herself trapped in a raging storm.

Yet to everyone else on the ground below, she was only gone for less than a minute before returning perfectly unscathed and even happy. Did she simply use the staff to calm the storm?

Or... did something else happen as well?

...

Just a simple one-shot to illustrate my take on the movie's theme and moral. No relation or connection to any of my other stories.

Life can be fleeting. What pony doesn't know that?

Wiser are those who recognize it and live it as such.

Perhaps some lessons need to be learned the hard way...?

Sky Stinger had always suffered the fate of being ignored, until he met Vapor Trail. Partners since foalhood, the two helped each other on their way to the top, to their dreams... to the Wonderbolts.

Now however, having found out the truth behind his "achievements", Sky Stinger struggles to get back on his feet and prove that he is special, that he is important, that he can take on any challenge. But as he finds himself falling short time after time, he will have to re-evaluate himself, his goals...

...and a particular bond with his loyal, timid wingpony.
