O'er the mountains daylight gleams
Shining on a clearing of shattered bones and twisted dreams

Ancient trees creak and the winds moan
Scarred remains face time immemorial alone

Odes are sung and tears are shed
To memories of a time when a mountain was stained red

Crimson scales, searing flame and evil eyes
A mouth full of insipid lies

A sea of steel and fluttering flags
Concealing gaunt frames and tattered rags

A roar of rage and a flash of flame
Many lay dead or lame

Armour rent and flesh was cleaved asunder
Finally, a sound like rumbling thunder

Smoke curled into the sky no longer
Gems not needed to satisfy its hunger

Great scales cracked and teeth became weathered
Skeleton standing over new-grown heather

Great halls filled with lamentation and woe
But smiles prevailed through the gloom, no longer would they live in fear of an old foe
