Fiddlesticks is stuck at home for the holidays. That is, until Lightning Dust decides to drop into her life.

This is a Christmas gift for The Red Parade, who, aside from being a wonderful friend, writes some absolutely amazing stories that you should go read. (He's also crazy enough to also help edit his own present. )

After saving Equestria for what seems like the hundredth time, the princesses send the mane six out on a vacation for some well-earned rest and relaxation. When Rainbow Dash and Twilight Sparkle head out for their weekly reading get-together, Twilight discovers something about her friend that Rainbow would rather have kept a secret.

For those wondering about the whole Kaleidoscope thing: the idea was to see how many totally different stories we could all make, all from a single image as the prompt—to see how inspiration manifests in and unique and wonderful ways among a diverse group of writers.

Celebrating 100 mini-fics, 23 members of the AppleDash group collaborated on a single story based on a one word prompt, Desire. Each chapter is between 200 and 1500 words long, each written by a different author. Each author had 3 days to write their chapter before the story got passed on to the next author, who continued where the last person left off.

Applejack and Rainbow Dash return home from a day out visiting Rainbow's parents, but something is bothering Applejack: her own parents—or lack thereof. She wishes that Rainbow could have met her parents... but then, why can't she? Tartarus does exist, after all.

Each chapter of the fic went through only minor editing to ensure consistency with names and to correct grammar and spelling. Aside from that, each author was allowed to write in whatever style they chose.

Rainbow Dash doesn't have anypony to spend her Hearth's Warming with—she hasn't for many years. All of her friends are enjoying it and she's had enough. She finds her way to Sweet Apple Acres and asks Applejack if she can spend the evening with her family.

AppleDash shipping. Again.

Set a couple decades in the future, Applejack is on death's doorstep. Having been confined to the hospital, she wants to spend her last night with her wife, Rainbow Dash, outside of the walls of the hospital—as a free pony.

This story could use a re-write. That probably won't ever happen, but on the off chance that it does, I'll let people know.
