After the events of another Everfree Thunderstorm, Fluttershy has a chance meeting with a strange creature she'd never seen before. He comes from a forest she's never knew existed, yet he came all the way to her abode to thank one of her forest friends. Their interaction is brief, yet both will walk away from this exchange with something unexpected- a better appreciation for friends.

Jonathon's return home from Equestria went as flawless as one could have hoped for when it involved the use of magical incantations, runes, questionable sample requests, and the need to have the timing perfect. Everything worked out, and Jon was back home.

The only problem was asking if Luna wanted a bottle of water.

The world is the midst a technological boom.

New techniques are being discovered faster than the inventions can be build to harness them for the everyday creature. Power harnesses for the weak, flight kits for the grounded, steam drills for the clawless, and a slew of smaller, but practical appliances to ease the burdens of life.

Yet, as the river time rushes pass one family is spared from its deadly game- the Royal Family.

Unfazed by the world around them, they trot on as they have done so for centuries with little change to their lifestyle. Antiqued by modern standards, but that’s what makes a royal family royal right?

The Great War was brutal, but thanks to the near inhospitable frozen lands of the north, the Crystal Empire was spared much of the Changeling's Wrath.

While Empress Nightmare Moon leads the battered armies of the Lunar Empire in the occupation of the former Changeling Hives, and reclamation efforts to the south, the Empire is left to its own devices.

Governess Rarity has ruled the Crystal Empire for the last two years since her appointment by the great Empress, Nightmare Moon. With the skills developed from running her fashion business, the Crystal Empire has flourished beyond the imaginations of anycreature.

This prosperity and her renown fairness has made these lands a bastion for anycreature (changeling included) looking for a chance to live in harmony- a true Equestria. But all good things must come to an end. The wars to the south are winding down, and without the need to lead her armies, Nightmare Moon is ready to assess the state of her Empire.

What better place to start than the jewel in the Equestrian Crown?

Recently promoted to the rank of Colonel, (not his fault) Idol Hooves is tasked with the supervision of rebuilding the Crystal Empire's Guard Force. As the first Colonel in several centuries, Celestia, Luna, and his friends Shining and Cadence feel the rank and his stoic demeanor will be a boon for the traditionalist crystal ponies.

Plus his recent fame thanks to the plush dolls made in likeness are sure to draw recruits in by the wagon full!

How will Idol and his family handle this new life in the land of the far north? Can Idol keep Cersus out of trouble long enough to finish his task before being court-martialed?
