Pinkie Pie is being a bit silly.

Up until recently things were fine and super and good and now, suddenly, her heart's all twisted in knots like a pretzel! And she doesn't like pretzels very much! Especially when it only happens when she's talking to her most generous friend, who doesn't deserve a pretzel at all.

Surely, though--her other friend Twilight would know what to do about it. She could figure it out, certainly. She's the smartest, cleverest, most incredible pony ever and...

Pinkie feels even more like a pretzel when Twilight is around.

despite what the title suggests, this is not a Rarity-centric fic or from the perspective of her, hence why she's the third character tagged and not the first!! she's just the main topic of this fic, if that makes sense. i was inspired by the song "Heather" by Conan Gray and it gives me TwiPie vibes for some apparent reason so i cooked this up in my brain hehehe

Twilight Sparkle, in all of her scientific observations, has never been the most observant or clever pony when it comes to others. She never knew she needed friends until they fought by her side. She never realized just how much those friends meant to her until she lost them to a magic beyond her own. She never fully understood what her own destiny was, until she helped her friends find theirs.

But, those can all be excused. Explained away. She just needed to learn it herself.

a slightly angsty but eventually fluffy friends-to-lovers TwiPie fic because i just couldn't help myself with this random hyperfixation. will also be centering around Twilight's relationships with the Mane Six as a whole. also a bit based off the trope "Character A falls first, Character B falls harder" and loosely inspired by the song "Smile" from R5 and, of course, The Smile Song from the show itself!

Update for 11/28/18: Please note that this story is pretty old and will either be remade later on or discarded all-together. I've kind of lost interest in writing it, as you can probably tell, heh.

Maroon Lake is a professional detective, and though many ponies have told her to work for the government, she'd much rather do it on her own.
But she suddenly gets a phone call from Rarity, her boss, and she says she needs to come to her office immediately. Maroon obeys her orders, and once she does get there, she is met with a case of a murder at a candystore that she needs to solve.
Of course, she takes this as an opportunity to prove to others how good a detective she can be and that she doesn't need any pony else, so she doesn't hesitate to agree to solve it.
But that's not all that Rarity tells her...

One day, when Twilight Sparkle goes to Sugar Cube Corner, asking Pinkie Pie for a cake for her friend Lyra's birthday, Pinkie excitedly tells her about a new food she found out about, that a gang of rogues had brought to her.
Pinkie fails to see how suspicious this food really is. The fact that rogues (who weren't even allowed to live in Equestria; they're rogues, for Celestia's sake!) gave her a rare food that only they had, and no pony else knew about is completely fine with her. Twilight however DOES realize this, and instantly recognizes this food to be known as "corndogs." But she doesn't have the heart to tell her friend that this uncommon edible treat is actually some ponies' friends.

I have no regrets.

3 years have passed, and Mother's Day is making its way to Ponyville. By now, the Mane Six have their own families, and are spending time with them as well. Even Apple Bloom spends time with Granny Smith, since her mother was not present at the moment, and Sweetie Belle was staying over at her mom and dad's house for the weekend. Everyone is happy.
All except for Scootaloo. With everyone talking and having fun with their families and mothers, it gets her thinking about her own family, and she wonders why they left her so long ago.

This is inspired by yum soda's "Alone"! Credit goes to her!
Also, the "Alternate Universe" tag is there because this is set 3 years into the future (as you probably have already guessed). Let me know if it's not needed, cuz I'm not sure myself. xD

When Derpy takes a walk through the Everfree, she finds something odd; a talking acorn named Bob.
