Yeah, personally I didn't think it was a good idea at first, but after I got a lot of negative reception and lost all motivation to write for a few days, I ended up individually thanking all 200 people who favorited my story a few weeks back. A lot of them came back and told me how much they liked my story and wanted me to continue it, so it feels really good to be appreciative of people who like my stuff.
I work hard on it, ya know?
