This is my quest. To follow that star! No matter how hopeless, no matter how far.

So, the mega marathon of work on the farm is done. Sadly, it also meant putting down one the animals. He had lived a good life and we kept him warm and fed despite his lack of production for months now. But age had taken it's toll and he was not going to survive the winter. Mustachio was laid to rest at the base of a maple tree today. May he walk where no shadows fall.

Still working my butt off on the farm. But I have managed to get Chapter 7 "in the can" as it were. Which means my rough draft is complete. Now comes a day or two of second guessing. I must be getting better at this writing stuff. I wrote onions. Touch typing skills mean you can still type with eyes tear loaded. Gave my wife a preview. Had to hand her tissues.

Currently working my assets off. Between delivery work, harvest time on the farm and back to school for my own little ponies I've had precious little time to either write or satisfy my gaming needs over the past few days. Plus, as the fall rains have begun here the local forests are sprouting morel and chantrelle mushrooms which are super tasty. Which means more time afk whilst I hunt them down.

So, Chapter 7 of The Bridle Path is chugging along. Last night I finished the long and important conversation between Valiente and Rarity. I looked at it, felt good about it, leaned back in my chair and told the wife that it was done. Her response was, "Are you sure?"

So, I've discovered an incredible parallel between being a DM and being a writer. The urge to spoil things by revealing things is absolutely huge. I played D&D and other pen and paper RPGs for about 30 years. When people heard I was going to be running a campaign I had to turn people away. Everytime. The craziest was when I ran a Deadlands (pre d20) campaign for a group of 8 people. And during all that the hardest problem wasn't having a coherent plot, it wasn't keeping my players happy

Yes, I have the man flu. My loving wife has been kind enough to not mock me excessively and heed my pleas for hot soup. It's also given me about 24 hours to just sit at my computer and go over and over Chapter 6 of The Bridle Path. You know, the more I write the more I am in awe of what seems the unconscious skill of so many of the writers here. Their stories are profound, they make you think and even better, they flow. One sentence seemingly effortless blending into the next.

Put in 1500 more words onto Chapter 5 of The Bridle Path last night. Initial draft is going to run over 5500 words. I've hit a bit of a snag though. I've injured my left hand while repairing an oven. Writing hurts. I'll be back to it soon.

Well, damn. I actually have people following me. I find that pretty incredible considering how new and raw I am to writing. So...updates, right.

Chapter 5 of The Bridle Path is being worked on. I'm still getting everything written so that I can then re-write into something that makes intelligent sense. I work and have 3 kids. So, as you can imagine, my days are pretty full. I write in the evenings, when things are quiet and I'm happy to get 400-800 words I'm happy with down.
