The rulers of Equestria have decided to hold a competition that has not been held since before Discord was imprisioned. Follow the Sun team, one of 4 competing in the tournament; as they learn about teamwork and friendship to win the chapionchip.

A company from the far Eastern region of Equestria has created a new device for entertainment. After becoming well known in that region they seek to bring it westward, so Princess Celestia sends a few models across the local region of Equestria as a means of testing it's appeal.
The Mane 6 are recruited to be one of the 2 testing groups in Ponyville, so they sit down through a steady stream of games to see if it should go throughout all of Equestria.
They play, they laugh, they may even become frustrated but, to be sure, these games will not be something our heroines will not forget soon.
