Oh, sweet Celestia enthroned in the Holy Flames of Friendship... I am so out of the loop!
The pony-sided shape. Pony's a number, right?
I've just submitted The Ponies and the Ponies to EQD for the third time. I'm not going to attempt it again, though. If it fails to get through, well, I'll just have to live with it. All this work hasn't been a total waste of time, though. They've given me some legitiatemly good pointers, so the work I've done on the earlier chapters should draw in a few more readers.
Sorry for the delay in posting new chapters. I've currently hit a point in the story where I need to hold chapters back, just in case I need to redo earlier chapters to make writing later chapters easier. It's the threads! In retrospect, the entire story would have been easier if I'd had two investigations—one on either side of the border—that were actually two-sides of the same coin. But it's too late for that now; the plot is in place.
Happy New Year, everyone! Sorry for the lateness of this, but real life's been impacting on all sorts of things.
It hasn't been a very happy year, but I can't complain. Lots of people have had worse. My thoughts go out to them.
I thought I'd share a little prologue I'm working on as a part of an alt-history story inspired by the ramblings of FimFiction users JackAnarchy and WLAM.
“Your Highness, is something wrong?”
It's been a while, hasn't it? I'm still working on this story. I've progressed to four chapters now, but I'm rather reluctant to release them just yet. As I'm writing, I'm finding myself having to go back and tweak earlier chapters (the first chapter, for example, requires a bit of tweaking in its narrative). So I've decided not to release any of the chapters until everything is done and dusted.
Bad news, I'm afraid. This story just isn't going where I thought it would. I'm putting it on hiatus rather than cancelling it, because I might be able to salvage it. But as it stands, I'm not happy with it or the way it's going.
The story was meant to be a retelling of Season One to reflect what could have been. It was inspired by Lauren Faust's desires for the show to be adventure-based, so I changed the professions of the Mane Six to allow for adventures:
I may have went a bit overboard with making Pony place names. I've got more than I know what to do with, so I thought I'd just list them here for other people to use in their stories.
