Princess Twilight Sparkle is writing letters. She shouldn't be, but she is. Things are bad, times are tough. When it's rough, what would you turn to, if only to escape the reality of the world you live in?

I wrote this after having a brief spark of imagination while listening to "Boulevard of Broken Dreams". Thus, the title. Though I'm not sure what is has to do with the story.
I would love to hear your thought on this, and keep in mind, I have access to exactly zero editors and this was all written in about an hour and a half. It will not be changed, however, I will most likely see things I could have done much better a few days from now.

As an Alicorn, Twilight is destined to live alone, away from everypony she has ever known, because, as we all know, life moves on and often without our beloved family and friends.
Celestia is unsure how Twilight will handle losing any one of them, so she has come up with a solution. She just hopes it's not too late.

When Zecora recounts the ancient Zebra Legend of the Black Unicorn, a terrifying tale about a powerful and evil pony who eats souls, nopony thinks twice about her cryptic warning that the monster was only banished and not destroyed. Nopony even believes that it could be true, including the skeptical Twilight Sparkle. But the Black Unicorn is very real. She was banished one thousand-five hundred years ago that night, and is more than ready to return and exact her revenge.

But there's a catch. The time away from the magic-rich world she called home has not been kind to the Black Unicorn and she needs a new body. One that is young and has a strong potential for magic. She needs a girl with a Heart of Gold, a girl who embodies the best of all the Elements of Harmony.

And she finds one. But there's a catch in her plan. The girl's Heart of Gold is so pure that the Black Unicorn has no hope of controlling her, not unless she can get her to stumble into the Dark.

(Warning: There is a little bit of gore and the possibility for feels)

Everypony thought that Princesses steeled themselves. They had to have no emotion. No feelings must shine through. This was the one exception.
