The mane six gather together at Twilight's urging to engage in a "girl's night" to play Ogres and Oubliettes. Something isn't right.

After Twilight Velvet gets held hostage, she is given a doll for comfort as the police in Canterlot clean up the mess. Her assailant has apparently died, and Twilight Velvet gets sent home. She hugs each member of her family in turn and gives Twilight Sparkle the toy she had held for comfort.
In the morning, the young filly is enjoying her new toy, but she seems to be talking to it, and acting as though it can talk. Surely that's just a foalish habit, right?

The Storm King has been defeated and the Friendship Festival is in full swing. The former Commander Tempest is spending time with her new friends, enjoying the festival.
Unknown to her, Celestia watches from afar. She lets on that she knows more about the former commander than she had said, and shares her secret with her sister and aide.

Rarity sees herself in the market. It's definitely her, but it appears to be only an illusion because nopony else sees it, and they can walk through it with no trouble. She thinks it's just a trick, but when it comes back again inside the Castle of Friendship, Rarity starts getting concerned, she asks Twilight about it, but Twilight detects nothing with her wards. What might these apparitions want, and how can she get rid of them?

Trixie is on her way to Vanhoover when she gets lost. She finds an old tunnel through a mountain and decides to take it, if only to avoid the trees. When she's inside, something is attacking her wagon, and upon investigation, she has an encounter with something terrifying and magical.

City life has become difficult for anypony who is not a unicorn, and for the earth pony Gear Grinder, working day-to-day has become a routine that is enough to keep him in enough money to live the way he wants and spend time with his online friends.
After being sent down the the sprawling metropolis of Ponyville with his co-worker Amperage, Gear gets invited by his new friend to come hang out at his place.
Upon arriving, he finds out that a unicorn mare they bumped into down below in Ponyville has become Amperage's new flame, and Amperage is acting strange. What Gear knew about him from work and their brief time as friends is called into question, and he makes it his goal to investigate, and as he does, things continue to get stranger and stranger.

During spring, Applebloom is conspicuously reminded of the absence of her parents. While helping Applejack in the attic, she finds an old but very fancy ouija board. Sweetie Belle tells them all how to use it, and they try to contact the dead.

Applebloom's mother is not who they end up contacting.

Fluttershy buys a painting from a new stall in Ponyville markets. It's a quaint picture of a rural cottage surrounded by grasslands and farm animals. It fills her with a curious feeling of longing that she hasn't felt before. Why should she? Her life is already like it.
But new animals start appearing around her home, and her own animals begin disappearing. Why and how she doesn't know, but she has to save them. She has to save all of them.

Pinkie Pie recalls her days on the dreary rock farm, when color was muted and bleak. Her first real sighting of how bright and cheerful colors could be came from the sonic rainboom Rainbow Dash caused.
Now, Pinkie Pie wants a new color. The current ones just aren't enough, and they don't do enough to make ponies happy for long periods of time. She wants something unique and exciting, and so she talks to her friends in her quest for just such a thing.

The house was hers. It was old, and rotting from the inside out, but she had lived here longer than she could remember. Cleaning was impossible, as every time she cleaned or repaired something, it would rot and disappear when she turned away. It was a losing battle, but she needed to stay, though she couldn't remember why.
One day, an injured pony comes barging in, pursued by timberwolves. He's the first guest she's had in... well... longer than she could remember! His presence signals the start of a very interesting change in her private little life.
