When the villainous Ob Nixilis arrives on the plane of Equestria, he attempts to steal the Elements of Harmony. He is foiled by Discord who wraps himself around the Tree of Harmony to protect the elements. Enraged Ob Nixilis stirs up trouble to torment Discord, and the ponies of Equestria are forced to deal with old foes. Princess Twilight Sparkle and Spike travel to the plane of Innistrad to find one who has the knowledge to undo the black magic of Ob Nixilis and see the villain banished for good.

Applejack invites Applebloom to the Gala, so Rarity must invite Sweetiebelle. Applejack needs to find and convice Rainbow Dash to invite Scootaloo as her plus one. Unfortunately, Rainbow Dash already has a date in mind.

Pumpkin Cake and Pound Cake are a Pegasus and a Unicorn born to Earth Pony parents. Twilight Sparkle and Rarity think the little Unicorn needs a new name in the Old Tongue. Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy think the new Pegasus foal needs a sky name. Mister Cake takes exception to their meddling until Pinkie Pie reveals details of her heritage.

Rarity the Unicorn helps Princess Twilight Sparkle come to terms with her OCD, and convinces Twilight to once again start taking her medication. Rarity reveals her own past mental health difficulties to Twilight.

Princess Twilight Sparkle is summoned to Canterlot. There she learns from Princess Celestia the true origins of the pony race and the secret of the cutie mark. Twilight must travel to Saddle Arabia with the dashing and handsome Prince Blueblood and her old friend from The School for Gifted Unicorns, Twinkleshine, to recover an ancient powerful relic.

Will her mission succeed or be thwarted by the complications of romantic entanglement?
