Still hanging in there. Have a lot of things going on currently and haven't had a chance to give this story the attention it deserves. I've been building on Ch2 here and there, but it's grown to a massive size just like the first one, so it gets quite complicated to do revisions and editing when I just don't have a few hours to throw away.

For anypony who cares, I've been diligently working on Chapter 2 for about a week now. Not entirely sure I'll be able to keep the word count lower as promised, though :P

The story has developed differently than I had thought at first, but I guess being spontaneous isn't all that bad. I wonder how I'll approach the ending, still - but I can promise a heartfelt adventure ahead.
