Gosh, and I thought last weeks episode was predictable...

As soon as Pinkie Pie was seen 'sick' in bed from Dash's cookie, I'd already got the rest of the episode mapped out in my head... and what a long slog it was getting to the finishing line. Yes, I 'get' the tribute to a certain zombie film of almost the same name, but that doesn't make the end results any less tiresome.

What a great 22 minutes. A hilarious new character who is alternately annoying/ useful, plenty of meta-humour with lots of shout-outs to the fandom and best of all... lots of DEADPAN SNARKING!! This is going straight to the top of my list of favourite S6 episodes. Rating: ****

Like the food from the posh restaurants in the episode, a bland, insubstantial serving with barely enough filling to go around. It's painfully obvious from the first minute who's is in the right, so getting to the 'being different is good' moral at the end is quite a chore. The lack of any real laughs is also a crippling flaw, and the Pinkie/Rarity dynamic, once so fresh is starting to get a little stale.

A marked improvement over last week's borefest. Zephyr is a good new character with a decent voice actor who has some funny moments with his egotism and sloth (you can see why Dashie has such a huge crush on him) , and it's refreshing to see some of Fluttershy's character development over the series come out in her ability to stand up for herself, a noted improvement over her shrinking violet status in season 1.

Pff. I have little to say about this episode. It had some nice bits of humour, and the concept of each pony being interviewed as a framing device was an interesting one, but... It was all so meh.

How odd to see a CHRISTMAS themed episode... In the middle of MAY.

The Christmas Carol is a very commonly copied book for various episodes of sitcoms and cartoons, and putting it in pony form adds little to it. Everyone knows what's going to happen, so the suspense level is 0.
