Days after the event of when Princess Luna's Tantabus wrecked havoc upon different pony's thoughts to make nightmares, Applejack finally musters up the courage to confront Big Macintosh about the way he had shown his appearance in the linked dream.

The real reason behind it all lies deeper in her brother's soul than Applejack could've ever imagined.

Set before the events of Friendship Is Magic.

Each pony tribe had made peace with the others, banishing the deadly Windigos into the pits of Tartarus, never to be released upon the world. Calm spread throughout the land, and each mare and colt could finally be safe.

But nopony expected the Windigos to use the last of their power to leave a dark curse upon the ones who had defeated them. The mares were lost, the curse taking control and leaving them to what they believed were the hooves of death.

Or so it seemed.

No, Twilight did not expect Town Hall to be magically turned into a crystal dome, leaving terrified ponies trapped inside its beautiful walls.

No, she didn't expect roads upon roads of Ponyville would be switched into glittering gold, blinding any ponies who came near or even walked upon them.

Again, no, she didn't believe the mayor when she was told organic trees had been turned into an assortment of statues made of another fluorescent type of crystal, now as thick and as hard as stone.

Actually, no, she wasn't that surprised when she was told somepony had used Dark Magic.

But she was when the residents looked to her alone to clean up the entire mess. Being a Princess wasn't too bad until now.

Gilda's been at Junior Speedsters Flight Camp for 3 months, and she still feels like she hasn't found her place. Even with her unique flight skills, the others seemed to ignore her entirely since she is a Griffin.

After another day of practice routines and ridicule, Rainbow Dash decides her friend needs some cheering up. And she's not giving up until she finds a solution to the griffin's problem.

Besides, most times all a sad friend really needs is a treat and someone to share the experience with.

The Maze. A place where every month, a mare gets sent in with new supplies and food. But when mares are sent in, they lose all memories. Their name, past, everything. So when the ponies find an Alicorn mare, they start to think maybe there's more to the maze then they thought...

But things take a turn for the worse as, out of nowhere, a colt is sent in, and he seems to know the Alicorn's name.

Now, this pony and her friends but journey through the ever-changing maze, and figure out why they got sent here...and how to get out, before the evil that was blocked by the walls of the Maze come after them.

These ponies must become the new Gallopers.
