You know, in the past year since I tried my hand at writing, I've decided to stay it from publishing any of the works. I haven't written much, only about 10,000 words or so, but the few ideas I have written down have become clearer. I've finally begun to appreciate writing. My writing. At first, I was trying to do everything at once. Plot, story advancement, world building, without considerations. Now I've begun to realize that there are layers. Editors and proofreaders spread the workload, but what the final product ultimately ends up being is similar to a good painting: layers upon layers of color.

I regret to say that my writing wasn't as up to par as I thought it to be, nor as interesting as what I thought it might become. Sure, there were interesting concepts down the road, but nothing that get attention and yell, "This stuff has flair!" anytime soon. Well, as I look at Carbon Copy more and more, the uglier it gets. Suffice to say, trying to write it is like trying to say a brick is aerodynamic. The last chapter is just... ugh. I'm putting the story on hiatus, and will be doing a rewrite to actually give myself something to work with instead of just going, "Hey, that's a good idea, let's put that in the story immediately and make the character into a Gary Stu!"

As of yesterday, I'm an uncle. It's odd to think that I'm already that old, but at the same time exciting. Who am I kidding? I just want to send the little bugger back home after visiting on a sugar rush in a few years to get even with my sister.

With any luck though, he should be out of the intensive care unit to get his heart valve sealed up in a week or so. Here's hoping nothing else happens, I know my sister doesn't need the extra stress.
