The shout came from the front.

"They've breached the defenses, fall back! Fall ba..."

His cry was cut short, followed by an agonized screech of pain.

A terrified frenzy suddenly filled the air as soldiers turned to flee, shoving and trampling each other in an attempt to escape the incoming carnage. Others stood still, frozen in place, their limbs refusing to cooperate in their moment of need.

"Luna, Celestia, please... I don't want to die..." Felix whimpered beside me, clutching his gun tightly against his chest.

My heart beat almost painfully as I turned to look at out escape route only to witness the energy blasts rain from the sky, shredding soldiers and earth alike, cutting us off.

Then, I saw them. Bounding over the crest of the hill like a deadly swarm, their frenzied howls cutting through me like daggers, they charged.

Ponies were torn apart and blood splattered the ground as the screams of the dying soon filled the air
