On a bright spring day in Manehatten, Fluttershy taught me that if you put yourself out and do an extraordinary thing, extraordinary things happen to you.

Contains minor spoilers for Sunset Shimmer Goes to Hell, but can be read standalone.

The magazine in the cover art is from the My Little Pony Collectible Poster Book.

Sunset Shimmer, while still Celestia's personal student, learns that there's some places you don't want to go, but love will make you do strange things. That and time paradoxes and magic storms.
(Sequel short story about Brandywine: Prance

This story is written to be standalone. Minor tag [SciFi] for Time Travel. This novel appeared as an Equestria Daily fan fiction Sunset Day - Fanfic Submissions! post for Sunset Shimmer Day Sept 22rd, 2016.

For those who are interested, the story explains what took place between the events in Celestia and the Battle for Sunset and The Enforcer and Her Blackmailers. If you read those two stories first, your fun will be doubled!

2/3 Added Starlight Glimmer tag for a supporting role. 2/25 Added Princess Celestia tag for a supporting role. 3/3 Added Timberwolf tag for obvious reasons. 3/26 Added Lord Tirek for S2 episode tie-in. 4/1 Switched out the Celestia and Timberwolves tag for Twilight and Fluttershy in the final chapters, because... read the story.

A big shoutout to Docintra my prereader. Thank you!
Thank you Novel-Idea for editing the anonymously posted image (click source mouse-over on image) I used as a cover into a real SF pulp fiction style cover!

When Celestia discovers the Queen of Cliffside—a golden pony with a red-streaked yellow mane, somepony very much like herself when she was a filly—she learns harsh lessons about the errors of her ways as she works to save Equestria from a curse: herself.  Sunset Shimmer, for her part, is not amused.  One of the pair proves more magical. Spoiler: They don't get along.

(Minor revisions made Sept 2017.)

Sunset Shimmer Goes to Hell is a sequel to this story told (mostly) in Sunset Shimmer's point of view. The backstory in this work, told in Celestia’s point of view, comes to life in To Bring Light to Eternal Darkness.

A big shout-out to my #1 pre-reader, Do Contra. Contrary to his belief, he has a pretty good editorial voice.

What was Starlight Glimmer thinking when Princess Twilight wanted to set a table and give a friendship lesson? There is a thin line between forgiveness and redemption, but a gulf between them and evil. Listen in as an uncensored Starlight deals with her past and wonders what redemption and friendship really means. Appearances are deceiving.

Spoilers for No Second Prances. Watching the episode hook first will enhance your experience.

The Starlight in this story is the one in The Enforcer and Her Blackmailers and The Forgiving Lesson. The Sunset Shimmer mentioned in the story first appeared in Enforcer. Reading those stories isn't a prerequisite to enjoying this story. The story was written to be stand-alone.

This story is a sequel to The Enforcer and Her Blackmailers

After the crystalling, after the banquets, after the private party, Starlight gets her chance to be alone with Sunburst. They realize that they share two things in common: their friendship and a different perspective on what happened that day he got his cutie mark. It leaves the closeness Starlight desires in peril.

While it contains minor spoilers for The Enforcer and Her Blackmailers, the story was written to be enjoyed standalone. It is set in Season 6 Episode 2 after the crystalling and before the train ride. It is intended to be in-canon, and should remain so until such time as we meet Starlight's family. Rated Teen for innuendo.

Princess Twilight finds herself summoned through the mirror for a difficult test of friendship versus violence as an old foe once again threatens her friends and the world. With no friendship magic available, can Twilight make do with a sword?

This story was written for the March 2016 Equestria Daily Friend-off #4. The rules read: "Take your favorite piece of artwork and write something about it." I bought a poster of this image by NCMares. It was so dramatic that with that prompt I had to write about it:

Still bruised by the loss of Sunburst, runaway Starlight Glimmer tries to forget her recent past at Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns but the crimes of that past and Celestia's original protégé, Sunset Shimmer, make that difficult. What happens will change Equestria forever.

Prequel published 3/19/21. Sunset Shimmer Goes to Hell is a sequel (mostly) to this novel from Sunset Shimmer's point of view. The Forgiving Lesson is a sequel to The Crystalling and this novel.
